Why is turkey less allergenic than chicken?

Is it because they are fed different grains? Less soy/corn/wheat in their diets?

No idea... you'd think they'd be fed the same stuff though wouldn't you? At any rate, my babe reacts to turkey so I'm not even going to try chicken.

I thought the original TED said you were supposed to have lamb as your meat... On the joneja allergen scale, rabbit & lamb are the least allergenic, then game meats, then turken, chicken, beef, and veal. So who knows. My DD can have chicken and turkey, but not beef. And DS can have beef but not chicken and turkey, so for my kids, they the chicken and turkey tend to go together.

The book I'm reading says it's recomended because it is an uncommon food. I really only eat turkey a handful of times each year but I have beef and chicken every week. The idea is that the more you are exposed to a food the more likely you are to react to it. This is the idea behind rotation diets as well.

Turkey is considered an uncommon food? Hello -- everybody gets deli turkey. Who gets deli chicken? It's a turkey club, it's a Rachel (like a Reuben, but turkey), c'mon. I can believe that lamb is an uncommon food (mostly because it's gross) but turkey?

I think that many people eat a lot more chicken than they do turkey- yeah, they get the deli turkey breast (with a few oz of meat in their sandwich) a few times a week, but then they'll prepare chicken for dinner in larger quantities and more often- as stir fry, as breaded and fried nuggets, on the bone roasted, etc.

I love lamb. DS1's allergic to it though.
I hardly ever have turkey. I'm working on getting it into our diet more.
Most of the clubs I've had were chicken but then again, most of the places I worked that served clubs were chicken joints.
