What does the vinegar smell mean?

Quick background: dd's RAST revealed milk, egg, wheat, peanut and soy as allergens a month ago, skin prick said just milk, egg, and peanut (wheat and soy were negative) so the allergist suggested I add wheat back into my diet for a couple weeks and then try giving it to dd after that. Her soy number on the RAST was very low (0.61) but wheat was 6.61. The allergist said soy is often a false positive on the RAST and that in general, there are a lot of false positives, so they believe the SPT to be more accurate.

Well, today is the third day of me having either a roll/bun/couple pieces of bread once a day and she had a regular-looking poop that smelled like vinegar (not the first poop since I added wheat back in, but the first that smelled like that). So...what does that mean? Her poop often smelled like that before I cut everything out of my diet weeks ago--I did 2-3 weeks dairy free before we got the RAST results and then I cut everything else out about 3-4 weeks ago now. As far as I can recall, it wasn't until I cut out the extra stuff that her poop changed to normal. After the SPT, I assumed maybe it was the egg in the mayo I'd been having during those in-between weeks, though I'd originally attributed it to the wheat.

The only other thing that's been different is I gave her some teething drops (Gentle Naturals) a few times over the past few days, when she hadn't had them in a while. I don't know whether or not she's had them in the weeks of my allergen-free diet, just that it's been at least a few weeks since I last gave them to her. I saw that the Hyland's teething tabs had something suspended in lactose so I haven't given her those, but I don't see anything like that on the Gentle Naturals bottle.

What do I do now? Cut wheat out and continue to give her the drops a couple times a day to see if it's the drops? Discontinue both and then try one or the other (but not both!) again later? I was really hoping the wheat would be okay for me to have, though it's not as exciting to me as I would have expected! I know I've seen others mention that vinegar smell though, so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.

The vinegar smell means that the poo is acidic, which usually means irritation in the digestive track.

I think that's crazy that the allergist told you to start eating foods that showed as positive on the RAST- even if they were negative on the SPT!! I would treat all positives as positives for a while at least... maybe get retested later down the road. But if she does have a gluten intolerance, any bit of gluten will just cause damage in her gut.

Also- I just looked up the Gentle Naturals and saw that they have citric acid, which is often derived from corn (which is becoming a more and more common allergen.) Boiron's Camillia is a homeopathic teething remedy that doesn't have any other ingredients- you might try that one instead.

Hmm, thanks. She had a completely normal poop today without that smell, so now I'm totally confused. She tested negative to corn on the RAST (they didn't do it on the SPT), but she did used to get rashes if we ever gave her a jar of baby food fruit, which generally has citric acid in it.

ETA: She just turned 1.
