Midwives in Vermont?

Where can I find a listing of midwives serving southern Vermont. Arlington to be exact.

I'm assuming homebirth is legal in Vermont?

Thanks.

Start by looking here Vermont Midwive's Alliance

Yes, it's legal here.

Not just legal but (mostly) covered by Vermont Medicaid!

Wow, really? It's not covered by private insurance for such a stupid reason--it is considered "home care" and not a necessity. They use the same logic as if it was an elderly person applying for home nursing or something. What's crazy is they end up paying more than twice as much for hospital births! Go figure.

I'm a postpartum doula serving that area. Please PM me if you are interested in doula care. Best wishes on your pregnancy!

Yes Melissa was one of my midwives for two of my births. She was willing to take private insurance. I actually submitted it and appealed it when I was denied. The insurance company was not willing to pay for it because it was "home care."

Even that is pretty amazing for Cigna, as they are one of the most rigid insurance companies in the state. I think if we had more insurance companies here and there was more competition, it would be better. But that is another topic.....
