Our first full night together...

Jillian decided to pull a SEVEN HOUR nursing marathon. Good thing we figured out the whole nursing while laying side by side because my adrenaline finally did wear off and I was so exhausted.

She followed it up four hours later with a 3 hour stint.

It's starting to get pretty sore when I nurse and I even got one blister.

Not as bad as I thought it would be though.

That first night is so special! Congratulations!

We just had our first night. Luckily side lying nursing was fairly easy for me, as I've already nursed two years. It helped to tuck my arm under her head. Amelia nursed frequently all night long and I have blistering too! She also woke up to spit up and peed three times. I think she was spitting up amniotic fluid, since it was clear. For the most part she is very peaceful and sleeps more than her big sister did! Even managed to nurse in the moby wrap the first time I tried this morning! Took ages to figure that out with Maddy.

mama, glad you got the side lying down, that's a life saver!! Can't wait to be doing the same thing.

Hang in there, mama- little Jillian is lucky to have you.

Congrats on the side-lying thing. I totally can't do that!

WOW! Seven hours! That's amazing! I had no idea they could feed for that long. I have a lot to learn! hehehehe! It sounds like everything is going really well!

Sounds like my child. My mom is trying to teach her to nurse for longer periods and wake up less often. lol. She has a plan for how to make this routine happen. I know my boobs can handle nursing for extended periods of time... i've seen how much they can produce when i've pumped. So it's not like there's only a teensy bit of supply and she HAS to nurse often. She just likes to nurse often. My mom is also trying to get her to self soothe by sucking her thumb. She hasn't quite gotten that down yet... she mostly wants to make fists.

Man, last night I nursed her and she got a little bubble and spit it all back up. So, I patted her back a little... figured that was all she had to burp up, and nursed her again. She spit it all up. So I patted her back, got out a burp, and nursed her again. This time she finally kept it down!

Oh, and side laying nursing is the easiest position for me. My child likes to do this thing where she tries to be all independent and doesn't want my help. So with side laying, I can put her right up near my boob and she can usually latch on by herself. I guess it makes her feel all accomplished or something. lol.

The next night was followed up with nursing from 8pm to 10am. My milk finally came in last night though so we had way more breaks. So far no more blisters. It's getting better.
