I'm running out of deodorant options!

Ever since I switched to using deodorant I've been running through the different options. It seems like I can only use one kind for a period of time before I start reacting to it or stops working. I'm running out of options so I was hoping for other suggestions. So far I've used:

-the crystal thingies: I was able to use this for about a year, but then I started reacting to it and haven't been able to use it since.
-Tom's of Maine: I used the Calendula one for about a year as well, but then it stopped working and gave a rash.
-Pure & Basic: I used the Herbal one for three months before it gave me a rash.
-AlbaBotanica: ditto the above
-Nature's Gate: I tried a couple of theirs and got a rash the first time.
-Kiss My Face: ditto the above
-Jason: ditto the above

I'm now using the Tom's of Maine sensitive skin one which doesn't give me a rash, but doesn't last the whole day. I also tried their "Long Lasting" one and had a similar experience. Is there one out there that doesn't require mid-day intervention or is this par for the course? Any other suggestions or ones that would be good for more sensitive skin?

I use coconut oil and baking soda and it works great. I also shave with coconut oil and I notice I don't smell as bad as I do when I use traditional shaving cream.

Funk Butter by Oyin is magic

1. My husband and I both experienced the same problem with the deodorant stones. They worked great, then started causing 'pits of fire.' Eventually we learned that the liquid version of the deodorant stone works great, and we have both used it with no irritation for many years now. I buy ours at Wal-Mart or Target for $3 a bottle. I like the roll on and he likes the spray. They both feel exactly like applying water to the underarms, but they work perfectly.

2. If you don't like the idea of using alum, Pit Putty is a really nice stick deodorant made by a lady in Utah. Just today I received their new version, designed to appeal more to ladies, called 'Geranium & Lime'. I generally react to fragrances of any kind, but so far I have not reacted to their original Pit Putty, made with 'Clove & Lemon' essential oils. She also makes the best lip balm I have ever tried.

3 I used Funk Butter. It worked for a short time, then caused the afore-mentioned 'pits of fire'. I think it's the baking soda. Some can use it just fine, but there are many like me who find it too harsh, and I even used the unscented version.

I think those are about the three best-working natural deodorants available. They all really beat body odor, each in its own way (keeping in mind the harshness of the Funk Butter, but it does work quite well for many people.)

This really works......dip a cotton ball in alcohol and wipe your armpit in the morning. Repeat if necessary in the afternoon.

I have that same problem. I just recently switched to Tropical Traditions deodorant, which is CO based. So far it's working really well, and even though it's scented and I'm usually sensitive to them, I'm not having a problem yet. It's been maybe 3 weeks so far.

lately I've been using a homeade mixture that works great! and I can be really stinky! everyone's skin is different, and I've heard that some people are sensitive to the baking soda on their skin, so you can substitite corn starch for baking soda or combine them for a smoother feel. Here's the recipe.

1/2 cup baking soda
20 drops tea tree essential oil
20 drops another essential oil (lavender, chammomile, whatever you like)

mix it together ( I use an plastic food container with lid to shake it) and then pat the mixture under your arms. I use an old makeup brush and that works great. The down side is that its a little messy to apply, because powder falls on your belly when you apply it with a brush. But it works so good, I hope I never have to buy deodorant again!

also, I notice if I wear natural fibers like cotton or hemp, I don't smell as much. I think synthetic fibers really bring the stink out of me.

I make my own.

1 Tbs coconut oil
1 Tbs baking soda
1 Tbs corn starch
several drops of your fav. EO

It works great! If it's aparticularly sweaty day then I start out by wiping alcohol under arms first then my deo. followed by a dusting of powder.

In a sealable container combine

1/2 cup Baking soda
1/2 cup corn starch
Several drops of your fav. EO

Seal up and allow the EO to fully scent the powder.

I used to be a firm mitchum girl. Big time sweaty! None of the *natural* stuff worked for me. But *this* works! I love it! It's green, it's cheap, it's natural, it works!!

About the pits of fire. I started rubbing shea butter into my pits before applying the Funk Butter and making sure to wash it off at night. No more pits of fire and no BO all summer here in hell

I'm using the Kabana deoderant for the last 3 weeks now, and I really like it.

lol...pits of fire really does aptly describe it. I'm taking notes in hopes that if one thing doesn't work I'll have some other back-ups. Thanks!

I second the liquid roll-on form of the crystal deo. Baking soda worked well for me, but it caused that painful rash. Recently I've started using Arm and Hammer Essentials Natural deo (the one with no aluminum) and it works really well! It smells like lemons (which I'm ok with) and it's not sticky. Before that I used the Adidas one with no aluminum, but it made my underarms itchy and irritated.
