Finishing a raw edge

So, made some quilt blocks with appliqued hearts, and used a broad, decorative overcast zigzag stitch, after applying pellon fusible iron on stuff, that basically glued them to the background before I did any sewing. I thought the stuff on the back would keep the raw edges of the applique from fraying between the stitches, but now I'm not so sure... Isn't there some kind of something I can put on the edges to help prevent fraying? I feel like I've seen some kind of paint-on fluid that accomplishes this, but I can't seem to place where I've seen it, or what it is, exactly. Really, it could all be in my head, lol. Anybody know what I'm talking about here? TIA!

I think the clear stuff you're talking about is fray check. I don't remember where I bought mine. It was either Walmart or Hancock Fabricks. I'm sure Joann's also carries it.

I am thinking you're talking about fray check as well. It's usually on the notions wall at Hancocks (by the elastic and velcro and seam rippers and whatnot.) Walmart and Joann in my area also carry it, and so does Hobby Lobby.

fray check is cheaper at JoAnn Fabric, That is what you need, if you seeliquid stitch, dont get that, it is harder and dries yucky. It is at wal-mart but more expensive.

Good luck
