Yay, that's great news. Really I think living without furniture would be better for so many of us. I think it's making me more lazy On a side note, my midwife caught a baby in a tent. You really dont need much

I'm so glad it worked out! Sounds like you have a wonderful midwife!

It's important to remember that not all midwives (gasp!) are clean, tidy, organized and perfect either! I know midwives who have beautiful homes, perfectly clean and beautifully decorated and some who are very disorganized, cluttered, etc. and everything inbetween.
As an assistant/apprentice, I've seen some lovely homes of clients and some very very basic homes, amish, etc. that had plywood floors, no running water, wood stove for heat, etc. I've seen clean homes, dirty homes, been in outhouses that made me gag and been in bathrooms I could live in!
I don't really think twice about it, other than supressing my own weird quirk of wanting to clean and organize things, just to help the mom out. I'd rather clean someone else's home than my own, sometimes! LOL.
Seriously, any midwife with ANY experience is not going to be judging your environs, as long as everything's safe, like, no exposed electric wires to get a shock from, or holes in the roof or rats running by... and I'm sure there are midwives who have worked in those conditions as well.
In Mexico, in the poor sections, the women are lucky to have a roof/house that doesn't leak, and most of them have dirt floors and no running water either.
Birth still happens!

oh that reminds me, I read a great story about a mw ( i think it might have even been a male mw) in mexico that attended a birth where they were living in the house with pigs (i think, or at least in very close proximity) and only a blanket partitioned off their part of the house. That was just there way of life at the time and it really was no big deal.
