Alright Kauai Mamas...

we live in south kona, on a 3 acre coffee/fruit farm, born in volcano, lived between here and northern ca after parents broke up, have been back full time here for 14 years, have a dh and a 5.5 dd...

dh might take a job in kauai for a 2 year after the first of the year with his company... and we are into the idea, so i am wanting info.

will be in poipu area, we homeschool, i have been to kauai once (it is beautiful) but don't have a real feel for the island (resources, towns, stores, things for kids to do, etc), you know - the whole scene essentially :-))

It's pretty rare to see a Kauai mama on here - they must be busy enjoying their awesome island.

I just got back from a 3 week vaca in Kauai and LOVED it. Beautiful kid-friendly beaches, farmers markets, and how easy it is to get around. If you like that small town feel (I do) I'm sure you would like it... I saw many local moms together with their kids the beach. I'm sure schooling options are limited, but since you home school, no worries there. Good luck!

Hi konamama,

I also am looking for info on relocating to Kauai. My husband's company will probably be sending us after the first of the year too! His work will be on the west side so we will likely try to find housing near Waimea or Kekaha. Coming from Alabama, I'm a little overwhelmed with figuring out things like cost of living differences, where to live, etc.

I also homeschool, am a LLL Leader and a young midwife. If you run across any info, please send it on to me!

We are planning a move to Kauai but it will be about 2 years!! We want to come over with like $20k in the bank. We are a young family (I'm 22 and dh is 27) and we have 4 small ones. I really love Hanalei. My cousins fiance's family lives on Kauai.

anyone with anything new for me? it looks like this is likely and still don't have a feel for it and don't think we'll make it over there before a move...
