We have been so blessed with a gorgeous fall weekend; lots of fun-filled outdoor activities. Nights are certainly getting colder, but have resisted turning on the heat thus far...

just checking in

oct 1: $56 walmart (diapers, garbage can, garbage bags, wipes, other necessities....sorry, i do hate walmart but their diapers are the best i've found, and the cheapest)
oct 2: $7 - coffee, pita chips, bananas, yogurt, samosas, and vitamin water (lunch at work + dinner/breakfast for the next day)
oct 3: $1.25 bagel, got a *free* pumpkin spice chai from sbux (yaaaay for old coworkers who give you free coffee!), and went to a burlesque show after work put on by some of the girls i work with, so $10.57 was the total spent for the night...OH! I BROUGHT MY DINNER FROM HOME! so, $11.82 for the day. plus $10.02 on gas. ~~unbudgeted spending: $10
oct 4: $1.25 + $1.60 at the farmers market for grapes and a muffin for breakfast for myself and dd and dd's dad. lunch was pizza, $2.53, and then i think i spent 50 cents on some trail mix for dinner, but then $4.10 for taco bell on the way home.
oct 5: $1.63 for breakfast at work, $0.79 for coffee, then i had a gelato/lunch date with a friend which cost me $2 that i snuck into his pocket as an attempt to split the bill then, $4 at the cider mill split with dd's dad for fudge, donuts, and cider of course. also, $42 to fill up my gas tank, which should last me at least a week. ~~unbudgeted spending: $4

total spent: $145.24, and $495 for rent
total non-budgeted spending: $14

okay, from this point on i won't detail each day, i'll just give a total like $5 food, and an unbudgeted total with detail if i spent out of my plans.

alright!!

also, i'd like to thank tazo tea for making vanilla white apricot tea, i love it and it has saved me from morning starbucks runs. i mean, come on...i can practically SEE the coffee shop from my apartment AND my best mom friend works there. however, the *free* coffee comes from MY old store which is a ten minute drive....we do make coffee dates though, myself and dd, and we go to the park and play, so its kind of worth it.

i'm babbling. i'm enjoying reading all of yours. this is my first challenge.

: This is me, saying goodbye to my money.

I thought the spree was over, but when I went through my "winter" clothes I had to pack back up all my wool, silk, cashmere...and there was a surprising lot of those things in my closet. All my favorites!

I can't wear those this year because it is a baby year for us -- and I'm not drycleaning all those clothes every time we have spit-up or thrown-baby-food or a diaper accident.

So I went to my local consignment store and bought five fleeces which can be thrown straight into the washing machine. I'll get a lot of use out of them...I almost counted them as a necessity...but...naaahh, not really.

Plus these were pricey fleeces (North Face, Marmot) and even though they are consignment, I could have gotten by much more cheaply.

So no thumb for Saturday.

Just like Kim, it is going to be easy to earn this month because there is very little wiggle room in our budget.

03.. $150 gas grill

Hi! I'm Meredith, and I believe I need to join this thread. I'm a spender, and my husband is very thrifty, and this often brings tension between us. I thought it would be good for me to log my purchases and see what I'm spending because I don't think I buy too many unneccessary things. I think my goals for this month would be to just be conscious of what I'm spending, and do we really need this? With a third on the way, we need to save, save, save. So here I go...

No spend
Budget spend
Unneccessary spend

10/1 $60 for house
10/2
10/3 $30 copay at OB's , $100 on maternity clothes
10/4
10/5 $50 Target ($30 toward maternity pants, $20 toward costume & baby
items)
10/6 $14 chic-fil-a (the kids were driving me nuts!)

So it does already look like I've spent too much, but I really needed some maternity clothes, but that's it! Now I'm vowing to spend less for the rest of the month!
