Does non-vax cause loss of state insurance?

My DD is covered by medicaid... I called them to ask if religious or medical exemption would disqualify her for the insurance, and was told no, and I didn't want to press farther and just ask if delaying or non-vaccinating without medical/religious would disqualify (I have no guts...)
My husband doesn't think that our concern over her reactions to past vaccines will qualify her for medical exemption as her ped has already blown them off as "not serious", and I am not sure how to go about religious exemptions as the way a few sites I have read say that if we use that we cannot ever have tests/operations done.
Does anyone know the laws on this offhand or can point me in the right direction? I looked on google, but kind of felt swamped

We're on medicaid here (OH), and nobody's ever even ASKED about vax (except WIC, and I just check 'yes') - DS totally vax free

Not sure where you read or heard this, but I've never heard of any such thing. There are some religions that might not permit operations (I'm very doubtful about tests being included in that), but that's not to say that your own personal religious beliefs include such prohibitions. I'm at work so I don't have any links handy, but I'm sure somebody can point you to some sites that can give you an idea of what a sample religious exemption would look like, if you wanted to/had to write it out for somebody. What it boils down to is your personal (need not be a specific church) religious beliefs prohibit vaccinations- no other medical procedures need apply. Oh and no, medicaid and WIC can NOT disqualify you for refusal to vaccinate, whatever your reasons.

Vaccines are not a law. They are only mandated for school or day care. So, worst case scenario you can always say you will vaccinate prior to going to school.

Your husband is right in that you won't get a medical exemption. Besides a medical exemption only works for one type of vaccine and is up for review every year. I would never bother with that.

As for religious exemptions, they work very well. They are simple and do not affect any other decision making about your child's health care.

Don't forget, you only need an exemption for day care/school. Before that you don't need it at all.

I have 3 vaccine free grandchildren and we have had no problems. One has a religious exemption (Pa) and the other two (almost 5 and 3) are not yet in school.

Thank you all We were not sure, but wanted to make sure. We didn't think it would be exactly legal for them to do that, but... Well, you know
