I have history of chronic hypertension. In my first pregnancy it normalized, so didn't have to take meds during the pregnancy. It spiked week 36 and I was induced for this week 37. I had a very positive birth experience despite the induction and didn't have to get pitocin! Anyway, this time around my pressure doesn't seem to be normalizing. I'm week 11 and have my first pre-natal visit next week. I had the nurse visit last week and she mentioned they traditionally use Aldomet for hypertension in pregnancy. I really don't want to take that because I've heard about all the possible side effects. Has anyone been on that? What about other meds like labetolol?
