I like the design of these diapers but would rather make it for myself since I can't afford to buy them. What kind of fabric would I need and what pattern? TIA!

I've been toying with this same idea.
Something to think about-snap installation.....
I would use terrycloth/towels.I have looked closely at ours, and have one litterally worn to threads so I can peek inside, and I have noticed there are two different types of terrycloth fabric in use!I would either use a layer of fleece against the skin and an old towel inside and a new towel outside. Not sure yet on how many layers, cos these are fat fabrics! Also, I could not hammer a snap through fleece and a towel-too thick.OR I then would try a t-shirt for next to the skin and the soaker layer inside then the towel for the outer layer.MUCH thinner, nice and soft, and absorbant,I'd play with either 2 or 3 layers of t shirt for the inner soaker layer. This sounds like a more realistic option to me.
As far as patterns, I would trace one or measure a dipe child in question is wearing-disp or cloth.Elastic in the legs and at the back, and there ya go!
I'm curious what more experienced mama's have to say!

The contour I have by Kissaluvs doesn't have snaps or elastic and would be easy to sew. You should buy one.
It's 100% cotton terry. I loved the one I had except the soaker took forever to dry.
Hope this conversation isn't unethical and mean.

Anthing fuzzy and furry would be great....
My kissaluvs (I bought some on sale for next babe, whenever that is) don't have snaps or anything on them. And furry terry you could just snappy anyway. How about you by one of each size if you like them that much and just trace the pattern? Somebody at diaperswappers might have them.Or just get one or 2 new for the pattern-they are pretty affordable.
