Twin Cities moms of Severins

OK, so I totally know this is a major long shot... And I never thought I'd be posting a "missed connection" personals ad for my 5.5 year old but...

A long time ago (2 years maybe?), when we first moved to the Twin Cities, I took my daughter (Margot) to Como Zoo. In the playground area, near the dinosaur bones, she met a little boy, Severin (spelling?), with glasses and a hat, about her age. They hit it off something serious. Even hugged.

They played together for quite some time, waiting for each other on the slides, and running into the pipe thingy holding hands. They also rode the train together, and held hands the entire time.

He was there with his mom and younger sister (in a baby carrier of some kind--can't quite remember). She rode the train with the younger sister, but in a different wagon. I watched from the side.

To this day, Margot is STILL asking about Severin, and saying she wants to see him again. STILL. After all this time. She remembers a lot about him, and often asks about him, and says he was "really nice".

But I was too shy to ask the mom for her phone number at the time...

I don't remember much else "identifying" about them, but since the mom looked like she might have a "crunchy" side, I thought I'd give it a shot here.

Any moms of Severins on here who could be "the Severin"? And if so, any interest in a weekend playdate sometime?

PS Margot was wearing a white sundress and white sandals with flowers on them. Brown hair.

So do I.

When we got back from the zoo that day, she drew a bunch of paper flowers and made me cut them out and save them so she could give them to him when she saw him next. (Paper flowers because real ones wilt.) The paper flowers have long disappeared, but she's still asking about him.

I can't believe the memory she has.

That is really sweet, and you never know they could have some kind of connection/bond. It's a good thing he has an unusual name, may be easier to find. Sure hope you find him. Also try the local attachment parenting groups.

I actually know two kids named Severin. How old are we talking here? One is gah, probably 7 or 8 and one is maybe 3. The 7yo has a little brother who is 5ish, and the 3yo has a little brother who is maybe 1. I don't know the littler one very well.

7yo is a gorgeous redhead.

"The" Severin is about my daughter's age, a little younger or older but not by much. She'll be 6 in January... So "the" Severin is either an older 5 or a very very newly 6 at the moment.

Gosh, this is the sweetest thing ever. I just had to bump it to the top.

Ya know, I have a idea for you. Since this Severin is about 6 or 7 years old, and most likely in public school, you could try emailing local elementary schools with a brief description of this boy. With his name and glasses, he's pretty unique. It would just take a little time to track down the school email addresses, make a standard text, then send it to these elementary schools (You could start with St Paul, then try Mpls, then maybe some of the suburbs) The principal wouldn't be able to give you his personal information, but could give the family your information so they could contact you. Maybe this would even generate enough buzz (it is such a sweet story after all) that the news media might find it endearing enough to put it on the local news!

This sounds like a lot of work and big ideas for what is probally just a small thought of yours, but it might work. And like I said, it is such a sweet story. With hard times like these, people are looking for sweet stories.

Good luck.
