We have a homecoming date? Oh yes, we do!!! Update #27

OK, so I talked to the PA today and they want to watch his temp for 48 hours to make sure he's keeping it up outside of the isolette. So far, so good. And I have to interject here how fabulous it is to be able to just waltz into the unit and pick up my baby whenever I dang well please (you aren't allowed to take them out of the isolette or put them back in it by yourself) now that he's in the open crib. Anyway, last night he had a desaturation, which is no big deal, but the nurse charted it funny so they aren't for sure if there was a bradycardia (the evil heartrate drop that sets him back 5 days) with it or not. If there was, we're looking at Saturday at the earliest. If there was not, he's coming home Wednesday! I'll know for sure later this afternoon and I'll let you all know. Please keep your prayers going/fingers crossed/whatever you do! I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up yet. :

Well, it's Saturday, provided he has no more bradys. At this point, I'm just resigned to the fact that it's still going to be a while.

aww, sorry to hear it. One of my close friends had to bring her newborn to the hospital for heart problems and they ended up staying for a few weeks, and it was so difficult for her to get her hopes up about bringing him home, only to get another irregular heart rhythm. I guess all you can do is take it one day at a time.

I'm sorry he can't come home yet. However, I was marveling about him in the car today. Thinking how amazing it was the way everything happened for him. They did surgery, saved his hands, and maybe his life. You had time to incubate him just long enough that his body matured enough to prevent long term brain/lung problems. And now he gets to come home, all the while the rest of us are still incubating.

He'll be home before you know it!
