Nightmare Before Christmas (we start now and watch through Dec)

The original Halloween!

Sleepy Hollow

Exorcist

Poltergeist

Silver Bullet (might be okay for kids, depending on age)

Amityville Horror (original)

Near Dark

Scream trilogy

Diabolique (original)

The Changeling (original)

28 Days Later

Any of the original Romero zombie ones (Night of Living Dead, Dawn of Dead, Day of Dead) and the recent ish Dawn of the Dead remake

American WW in London is good, but you have that one already!

The Ring

Blair Witch Project (scared me, others hated it)

Cloverfield

Ginger Snaps

There were a bunch of 80s horror movies that were not particularly scary... Any of the Friday the 13, Halloween sequels, Phantasm, etc.

Carrie

I'll see what else I can think of!

I was going to suggest Lady in White also. Arsenic and Old Lace, if you want something that's kind of Halloweeny, but comical. I love An American Werewolf in London, and I also remember really liking Fright Night (but it looks so 80s now, and I'm more into the 70's).

Thalia, Lets Scare Jessica to Death! How funny! I remember that movie came on all the time on the afternoon movie at 4. Especially in fall, along with Rosemary's Baby, The Dark Secret of Harvest Home, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (creepy), Trilogy of Terror and that one where Barbara Eden has an alien baby. What about The Howling (another werewolf flick) or the Fog. My husband really likes Prince of Darkness and Lost Boys.

There are a ton of Goosebumps and R.L. Stine movies out now, as well as "Are you afraid of the dark". Those are my favorites =)
Oh and Halloweentown has 3 different ones now I think!
Viola, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark scared the SNOT out of me when I saw it as a kid! Oh, how I wish it was available on DVD.

I saw Let's Scare Jessica ... just recently for the first time, and I was pretty impressed. It's a nice little moody movie.

LOVE The Howling. So scary, so funny.

I know you are probably all set... but for the others reading, I just thought of two more:

Clue
Murder By Death (a Clue knockoff)
The Worst Witch.
I love Practical Magic (my all time favorite movie).

Embrace of the Vampire (definitely an adult only movie.)

Kiki's Delivery Service (young child friendly)
My Neighbor Totoro (young child friendly)

Halloween Town (family)

Oooh, Netflix has improved my life so much!

You could do a little mini-festival of decent horror movies with really stupid titles:

Castle of Blood (just watched it last night, from Netflix, and it's a lot classier and more thought-provoking than that title suggests)
Kill, Baby, Kill
The Mothman Prophecies
Blood on Satan's Claw
Pumpkinhead
Let's Scare Jessica to Death (I guess that's a bad title ... at least, it makes no sense)
And the worst title ever: The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism, which is actually a moody and attractive little gothic that was saddled with a really tasteless moniker for its American release.

Army of Darkness starring the delicious Bruce Campbell
