I don't know if this is the right forum, because my birth injuries were so minor, I'm hesitant to call them "trauma" - but I do believe that any injury is a "trauma" medically-speaking, so I'm posting here.
I had a 1st-degree perineal tear that my MW gave just 2 stiches. I had my PP check up at 7 weeks & she said everything looked good.
I have felt fine. Even 1 day PP I was barely in pain!! I felt a little tender & slightly sore, but it was always so minor.
Well, DH & I went to have sex for the first time Saturday & it turns out I have this sensitive, painful spot just below my urethral opening. It's concentrated in just a pea-sized area above the vagina. It feels like it's been abraded - sore & sensitive. (oral sex hurt, so we didn't make it copulation.) Seems moderately swollen too.
MW said over the phone that it is likely a "skid mark" - an abrasion like a skinned-knee that they can't do anything for.
Ok, I understand. BUT... at 10 weeks postpartum, it still hurts!?
She said to call back if it still hurts in a month. Is it really unusual to still be in pain 10 weeks PP?
(Oh, DS is exclusively breastfed, so I understand that lowers my estrogen level, which impedes healing. Talk about an evolutionary mistake there! ha!)
