I'm a first time mom and relatively new to Portland, does anyone know of holistic minded pediatricians in the portland area that you could recommend?
any names at all would be much appreciated!

Kathryn Landon Malone at True North in Falmouth is a wonderful pediatric nurse practitioner. Don't have the # off hand. They don't take insurance directly but you submit the receipt and get reimbursed- depending on your plan of course.
Good luck!

I second Kathryn!!! My husband isn't the holistic type but he loves her too. As he would say "she is such a plethora of good information." She will go on your vax schedule or none at all. And she's not opposed to tradition treatment, but will always give you both options to consider.

Her appointments are an hour long and she talks things through with you and watches how they are acting and developing so she knows the child and doesn't utter the phrase "the AAP says he should be eating this now".

Not only is she there for well-baby and sick appointments but she sat down and dedicate her time to help us with Isaak as far as separating sleep from breast, moving to his own room and weaning as we are trying for number 2 and don't want to be stuck when it happens.

My husband hates paying for co-pays, and with her we have to pay out-of-pocket. He never once has said to me to find him another doctor that is covered (we have an out-of-state plan through dh work). That in itself from Mr. Cheapo says alot.

Her hour fee is $85 and that includes any shots if you do get them

Her number is 207-781-4488

thanks for kathryn's name, I had checked her out on True North's website. $$ is a factor for sure, but we have a good health plan and maybe they would reimburse - I'll look into that. we have a meet and great with Jenn Dubail here on outer congress, so we'll see how it goes...thanks again!

There is also Dr. Balzer in New Goucester, that's who we use. Its about 30 mins from Portland but he is worth the drive IMO. He is an MD but doesn't xax his own kid so he has no problems with not vaxxing, he is also pretty accessible in terms of evening/weekend calls when problems arise.

Dr. Balzer is wonderful. He will spend time with you and not rush your appointments. Our 1 yr old had a mild ear infection and he did not reccommend abx. I'm thrilled we have him!

Does Balzer take insurance?

Yes, he does
