30 days without make up

Thread Starter
Hey ya all...I am trying to curve my reliance on make up. I have tried looking for "natural' make up to no avail so I have decided that maybe I need to not wear it. So I am going to try and go 30 days without wearing it , and without putting anything other then natural moisturizers on my skin and see how I feel after 30 days.
Anyone want to jump on board?
cheers

kudos.
it has been almost 2 years since i have worn makeup. the only thing i use on my face is coconut oil. actually i feel more beautiful without makeup, i have learned to embrace my freckles. i tried to wear makeup for a special occasion and felt quite odd, like it wasn't me
good luck, it may take a bit but you will learn to enjoy it, and almost feel bad for women who feel the need to smother thier faces in makeup to go out of the house.

I just wanted to add my support. I've never been able to get into a wearing make-up habit. At times I thought it would be a good idea to wear make-up daily but never followed through - lol.

Guess I've been essentially make-up free for 30 years! lol.

another clean face

I don't wear makeup, either. I own some powder but it always gets broken before I use it all. I lost my eyeliner.

So....do I go fresh-faced out of priniciple or just because I'm a lazy slob? Could be either.

When I feel I need a boost, I just apply a tinted lip balm to my lips and sometimes my cheeks.

: I've rarely worn make-up for the about the last 5 years. I use dr.bronner's to wash my face, and then use kiss-my-face peaches and cream moisturizer for face and neck. I put on make-up to go to weddings, or fancy dinners or something, which only happens several times a year. I don't like how make-up feels...I can't believe I wore it pretty much every day for 10 years! My skin is much healthier now that it can breathe.

I wear much less make up than I used to, but I cannot go without mascara, even if I go out fresh faced. My lashes are long and straight, so I curl them and wear mascara, otherwise I look asleep.

My new skin care regimine is Dr. Bronners, vitamin E oil, Burt's Bee's tinted moisturizer and mascara. it takes 2 minutes, and it's worth it to me. Maybe some tinted lip balm. I'm way more natural after having DD, I like looking nice, but I don't require make up like I used to(I was a hairstylist, so I had to look the part).

Add me to the no makeup camp too. If I really feel like dressing up then I might apply a smudge of eyeliner and a tinted lip balm. But thats a rare occurance.

I've always hated the feel of foundation and I'm allergic to most of the mineral makeup. So to save my face and wallet both I finally gave up experimenting.

I might wear makeup 15 times a year, total. I've never been good about bothering to do it. I have no hate towards makeup but I just can't see the sense it it. It's fun when I'm dressing up but it's just not something I can worry about every day.

Nowadays, I only wash my face 2 or 3 times a week. The rest of the time I just use water. I can't imagine how I'd have to ramp up my skin care regimine if I started wearing makeup daily. Waaaayyyy too much work to day-to-day!

I've never really gotten into makeup on a continuous basis. I occasionally went through short spurts. The last one was when I was pregnant and got a small sample of mineral makeup. It just doesn't appeal much to me. It always surprises me that makeup is so pervasive in our culture instead of being an accessory that we sometimes like to use. I have had severe acne that is gradually abating and rarely wore makeup to cover it so you can do it too!

I was a full makeup wearer from 13 to my late 20s. I decided that I wanted to "re-evaluate" makeup and only wear what I really enjoy. I questioned for the first time why women are supposed to wear makeup to look attractive, when men are considered good looking au naturale. When I started questioning it, I realized that it didn't make sense. Now I wear lip gloss, balm or color only when I want to--and because I like it. I love having a clean face. I wish more women would go without makeup so that there would be plenty of examples of what a woman looks like naturally. Before and after pics anyone?

I'm on board. When do we start?

I wear make-up because I'm treated differently when I don't wear it. I have blotchy skin and, at my old place, I once went outside without make-up and one of the neighbours said, and I quote, "Dear God, what's wrong with your face?"

I want to liberate myself, and I'm going to be out of the country for a bit, around people who don't normally see me, make up or no, so I would like to give it a try.

Well I am still doing my same thing Dr. Bronners for face wash, vitamin E oil, Burt's Bee's tinted moisturizer, and mascara. I just look too weird w/out my lashes curled, I can go w/out the mascara, but gotta curl those lashes.

I also have been doing a facial about once a week. My acne is disappearing.:, in fact it is gone.

I've been doing a bunch of supplements to help heal my skin, so far so good.

I want to play!! But my baby girl has robbed my beauty!

I wore regular, heavy makeup from the tender age of 14, until slightly more than a year ago (I'm now 29) but my skin is so bad right now (prego) that I do need a little help.

My old "regimen" was foundation, powder, heavy eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, bronzer, eyebrow pencil, lip liner, lipstick.

Then I went to moisturizer, light powder, mascara, lip balm.

I love my new fresh-faced look...aesthetics have begun to matter less and less to me, and the type of person that I am now, it's silly to put on full face to go play in the woods or out cycling. I mean, I'm not letting myself go by any stretch, but I think natural is so much more beautiful.

That's about where I am except I do need spot concealer for these ridiculous pimples. Everything I'm currently using is natural as well, jojoba and tea tree oils for moisture, mineral powder, and it doesn't feel too "made up".

I tried to go makeup free earlier in my pregnancy but my face was just so bad, so I think that I'm going to try again after the baby comes, you know, when I have no time for myself anymore .

Those of you who are doing it have my full adoration and support!

Actually it does make sense if you look at the biology behind why we wear make up.

Oddly enough, I only have perfect skin when I'm pregnant; the rest of the time, depending on monthly hormones, I get pimples.
My mom insisted that I wear make up as a teenager, & I experimented a little - my eyelids are not made for eyeshadow, mascara always smeared & looked weird, etc - so I ended up using foundation, powder over that, some blush to put the color back in, & a little tinted lip gloss. Eventually, I tended to not bother unless I was going to work- DH always swore he couldn't tell if I was wearing any or not - & after my 2 DDs came along, I just didn't bother, since I never liked wearing it, it was just something you were "supposed to do". I do wear tinted lip gloss, & like to put polish on my fingernails/toenails, but my skin & I are happiest being natural. I don't shave anymore either (no more ingrown hairs or rashes ); I guess as I've gotten older, I've quit worrying so much about other people's opinions ("the way everyone else does things") & gotten happier with my own body.

ok ladies tommorrow is the last day

who stuck with it?
who liked it and who is going back to wearing makeup?

I weaned myself slowly off of make-up entirely over the last year. I finally threw out the last bit last month. I feel much better although I am still sometimes self conscious about not looking "done up"....

those moments are fleeting though. I don't have the time for vanity anymore.
