My 4.5 year old is losing his teeth :(

He lost the first front tooth at 3 in an accident... and now the other front tooth is really loose .

I made DH take him to the dentist this morning and they said it's no longer attached to the bone and there's nothing they can do to save it. I'm freaking out here... I know it's silly.

Isn't it early for him to be losing teeth? I'd hate for the poor kid to be missing his 2 front teeth for years.

Hugs to you.

My son lost his first tooth at 6 months old. It was a brand new tooth, and it was an awful "face hitting table when overtired at a restaurant surrounded by parents and friends-of-parents who got distracted by the food arriving" incident.

Then either genetics or the impact of that face plant caused the two upper teeth to the sides of the very front teeth to grow in yellow, then turn brown, and start to disintegrate. He had them pulled at around 2 years old (would have been 1 but we couldn't find a decent dentist who would do it without GA).

So I do know the pain of missing teeth that early!!!

If this tooth is naturally loose, the tooth should come down, yes? When did you and hubby lose your baby teeth? Some do lose them that young. Or is it possibly due to the accident?

The good thing is, at least from DS's experience, is that the teeth pulled at 2 still have big fat spaces there. The other teeth haven't moved in much at all (my guy is 4 and 1/3 y.o., LOL), unlike the one he lost at 6 months, where you only really notice that the space is more than a little space when you start counting lower teeth.
