Where to VBAC in the greater DC area?

We may be moving to the DC area very soon and I really need to know what the climate is the greater area for VBACing. It seems that the whole country is a bad climate, but please tell me there are some midwives here and there and who they are and where they are.

I cannot do homebirth because of a very rare condition I have so I have to give birth in a hospital.

Currently we are in Chicago which is AWFUL for vbac so I am ready, willing and able to put up a fight and travel a great distance.....please advise!

Hi, there is a list of midwifery providers on the Birth Options Alliance site- www.birthoptionsalliance.org You'll see hospital based midwives and birth center midwives listed (homebirth listed too but you said that's not an option for you). Some of the birth center midwives also attend VBAC's in the hospital, so try giving them a call.

Good luck with the move, and finding a care provider!

Dr. Tchabo who delivers at Arlington Hospital Center. He never even questioned whether I was having a VBAC or not. He just did it. THe hospital was very accomodating and pleasant. Much different than my first birth.

re: where to VBAC

Make sure to also check in with the local chapters of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN). We have chapters in Northern VA, DC (Takoma Park), and Baltimore. www.ican-online.org

See my thread I'll be posting next regarding upcoming topics at ICAN of Baltimore including "VBAC 101," "Meet the Doulas," and "Exploring Homebirth."
