I call mine my bajingo... Rebekah got a kick out of that, and said something about a banjo. Now I can't look at a banjo without laughing.

thanks mamas for the recipes. I decided not to cook it tonight, I'll start it earlier tomorrow cause by the time I remembered, it was after 5. Not really wanting to eat dinner too late. I had falafel instead. in warm pita bread, cucumber sauce, garden fresh tomatoes

Crispy skin ......... that sounds funny. I am going to start a punk band called crispy skin and the botox.

You gals are cracking me up. :

I needed it tonight.

I'm kinda freaking out about my house right now. This winter is supposed to be extra cold. We have breezy single pane windows (a couple cracked panes), and zero insulation in the outer walls or under the floor, and today I noticed a stink coming from the heater vents. I think there's water under the house, or a dead animal somewhere. : We have holes in the walls everywhere because my uncle started rewiring our house and never finished it. He's supposedly going to finish it very soon here, but we can't very well get insulation blown in until it is done. We already paid him to do it, so we're holding out a while longer for him to finish.

I made pork chops w/potatoes and gravy for dinner. It smelled really good, looked really good, but then tasted blah. DH called while I was cooking and said he was going to a movie with a friend. : Actually he asked if that was cool and when I said no, he pretty much said he's going anyway.

I'm trying to just be thankful I have a house and some bland pork chops in these crazy times.

Eliza, sorry you're having to fight so hard for your daughter in her school.

Beth, I have always wondered how working parents deal with the random school closures. It must be super stressful.

you have probably thought about this already but we used those poly window kits in our old drafty house (single pane), you can still get light through but they really helped. we also did the "window quilt" thing at night, on top of that. we tried to make it pretty, well it wasn't really... but it made a big difference!

Latch key kid from third grade. That's now.

Before that.. I had to go to nursery school. They took us too and picked us up from school.

Okay seriously, I'm 21 weeks and change. What is up with the first trimester morning sickness-like nausea I've been having the last few days? This is just plain weird. Actually, this whole pregnancy has been bizarre.

If you haven't yet, just wait till you read Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates. One of my favorites. I laughed the whole way through.

That is the one Tom Robbins book I haven't read. I should look for a copy! The only one that I found kinda dull was "Half Asleep In Frog Pajamas", but that one was good after a while. Just took a little while to get going.

This is how I roast a chicken. But that requires brining and it wouldn't be done very soon. For future reference, though, it's delish! Follow Tiff's instructions for this time. It generally takes 90 min or so for me... sometimes longer. I err on the side of longer.

Healing hooha vibes to you

This is my method exactly. Although I do something with tinfoil at some point.

The best parts of my day was getting some Rooisbos tea which I am enjoying right now, getting a great deal on organic chicken thighs, and getting to take a really long walk by myself. Also Sophia going around in green pajamas with a pillow tied on her back being a turtle.

An Embarrassing moment from my past is that once when I was in my early teens and on vacation with my family I got roped into being a part of a horrible performance in a talent show where I had to do a dance around a chair with a bunch of (terribly old seeming) women to "Hey big spender" and I had to go out into the audience and pull a man up to the stage with me and nobody would come with me so I had to to the dance with an imaginary man.

If I had to eat only one food for the rest of my life it would be Avocado

You're a funny girl Pauline.

The best parts of my day were delicious tacos made at home, my girl bucking out of her playdate to go take a nap, and Eleanor's new yarn dog Toto. Oh! And organizing E's craft closet.

An embarrassing moment from my past is when I got a ride home from summer camp from a super hottie 18 year old. His older brother was like an older brother to me, so he offered to give me a ride home. I was 12, and thought he was dreamy. He had a Camaro. Anyways, I had my period and was squirming on the seat because I was all itchy. (Love plastic pads! Not.) He asked me what was wrong and I played it all cool that my back was itchy. It was embarrassing to me.

If I had to eat only one food for the rest of my life it would be pizza.
