Spooky October in PDX - Page 3

all

Happy October

I am gonna try to stay up with you all, life has been kinda crazy lately, mostly good, and nothing dramatic or anything just don't get much computer time with a 6 year old in school with tons of homework and a very very active 2 year old that just the other day discovered the chandalier hanging over the dinning room table makes a great hanging swing:
Totty is still BF and is on me when ever I get a spare moment to myself, but I am still loving it....most of the time

Oh.. and Hi Kristian.. nice to see you stop by. Glad everyone is doing well.

Hey Kristin!!! wow thats kind of scary about the chandalier! i think my heart would stop if i saw that.
wish we could get back to game night sooner rather than later.

Eliza, thats great about Lucky getting in so fast i hope things work out. i might have to see her next, cause with the way i feel, and what i have been reading about fibromyalgia it all makes sense now.
call me anytime, k?

so my mom has like... NO memory, NONE. its actually getting kind of scary and my sister and i have talked about it on the sly, looking for signs of alzheimers(sp?). well it seems that every few days she puts something in the microwave to cook, covers it with plastic wrap then tries to serve it with dinner, something i am SO not comfortable feeding my family.
it happend three times this week, me getting increasingly more and more upset each time it happened, having the "it causes cancer!!!" talk with her each time and pleading her not to do it anymore. so i was proactive and made a sign, taped it to the microwave "NO plastic in the microwave please, it causes cancer"
so what does she do for dinner tonight? (we trade cooking days and dishes days) she microwaves a bag of rice and veggies in the freezer bag it was bought in. just poked a few holes in it and called it good.
omg i am ready to lose my cool.
we talked about it YESTERDAY. and the day before, and the day before that. and i made a freaking sign!!!!!
her resonse "well how am i supposed to heat things up then?"
"well you could empty it into a pot and cook it on the stove, or in the oven, depending on the product, OR if you really need to microwave it for time constraints, put it in a bowl, cover the bowl with a plate and nuke it, no plastic.
"well can i put it in the tupperware???" NO!!!!!!
aggg. i swear she is losing all her marbles one by one.

Well, the girls both went to bed at 7. I was downstairs from putting Ru to bed by 7:30. I can't believe it. : that Ru stays down for one more hour, so I can go to bed at 10.

I just kept waking her up this afternoon when she tried to take a nap. Nicely, of course. It was really funny, because she looked really surprised each time, and kind of like she really did want to stay awake, but was drifting here and there. I feel bad about it in some ways, but not in other ways, because seriously. I just can't stay up until 11 or later, like she wants when she takes a nap at 4:30 PM.

I think being Debby Downer is a pretty understandable response to current events. I don't even want to listen to/read/watch the news. Pfeh.
OMG Cadbury??? Seriously? WTF??? Not that I can eat cadbury anyway, but still, that is pretty surprising. What is up with the world these days???

See if she would take methyl B12 sublinguals (a form of B12 supplement) Research is now showing that as we age, many people absorb less B12 and it may be the leading cause of dementia/memory loss/alzheimers

JWs aren't supposed to vote????

Hi Kristen!

I'm trying to keep up over here too. In my lurky way.

I am so hungry. I want some of Pauline's cookies. But no bunny candy or plastic nuked veggies, but I think I might need to make brownies right now. Hopefully the smell won't wake the childrens. :

that looks like I want to eat the childrens.

You do want some. They came out pretty good. But funny-looking cause Sophia decorated them.

i haven't been keeping up either...but hello out there anyway!
Drew told me last night his company wants to fly us where he is (Texas) for the weekend, or have him come home a few days. but i don't know when-i was hoping soon (like this month-he heard he might be coming home next week, but the contract was extended...)
he mentioned something about Fall break...:
anyone else btdt?

Yesterday was awful, just plain awful. Apparently the owner of my apartment complex is tired of people being behind on their rent. We have 25 tenants here. He handed out 10 eviction notices, most of them to people my husband, children and I have become quite close to in the last 3 years we've lived here. They're all 20 day notices, but my heart is just aching for all of these families. There's one family that has lived here for 10 years and they are literally facing homelessness because of the lack of affordable housing available right now. Oh I am just so sad to possibly be losing so many of my neighbors and friends.

I havn't btdt but my heart goes out to you. It must be very hard to be on your own with the kiddos without help and I'm sure you miss your husband too. I'm hoping for a great reunion for your family soon! Meanwhile, would you like to try and get together soon? My days off are Tuesdays and Fridays.

That is awful Lydia. It makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. We have been real close to that many times (although not recently). It makes me feel lucky for what we have but very sad for those families.

OMG. Can we say WORST POSSIBLE TIMING??? What are they thinking??? Wow. I feel really bad for those people too. I'm so sorry, Lydia.

And here I thought I was having a bad day, because it's raining, and I still have no rain gear, and also because I was still bleary eyed when I went to get my deodorant that I JUST made a jar of yesterday, and the lid wasn't on tightly enough. I dropped it and it broke alllllll over the floor, splattered alllllllllllllll over my body, leaving a HUGE mess of coconut oil, broken glass, river of tears goodness for me to clean up with nothing, because the rags were in the washer from last night. I guess that teaches me to make sure the stupid rags go in the stupid dryer before I go to stupid bed.

Still. It didn't start raining until right before I was going to leave, and it came down HARD. Man, I need rain gear. I have nothing. Nada. Zip. I do have a full length micro-fiber winter dress coat that does a good job of keeping the rain off, but somehow I don't think that would be all that practical... unless I pegged it and rolled it up around my waist. Stacy and Clinton, here I come!

Then we will swap out the candy she got for a cool basket from the Halloween fairy. (picking up that idea from Leah)
Wow, that's a great idea! Thanks!

That's so awful. Those poor families.

Ugh. Woke up with a headache, sore throat and drippy nose. Didn't a bunch of you go through this last week? It's a short, mild cold, right? Go ahead, lie to me if you have to.

Lee, what's the "recipe" for the ACV drink again? And that helps fight off colds??

Yeah, Chase is begging me to go outside, but neither of us have raingear. REI, here we come. BTW, they have a sale right now - 20% off kid's raingear.

Hedy, I don't think I've said it, but I really admire your commitment in biking Lily to and from school. Esp. when you don't feel well or the weather sucks. I'm not sure I would still be doing it if it were me. :

Tina I hope you've told your DH that he doesn't get to complain about the government if he doesn't vote! Wait, doesn't he work for the government??

Lydia, My real estate agent recently told us that once you have a tenate in Oregon it takes an act of God to get them out. I think really those people can "ignore" the eviction notice and then he will have to take them to court. And in Cali if you are taken to court as long as you pay the rent they can't evict you. My stepdad did a lot of work for lower end property owners and often had to go to court to help get someone evicted (someone who never paid and destroyed the house.) As long as they paid, they were allowed to stay.

These families need to talk to whatever is the housing authority in Oregon and find out their rights. Yes I realize the property owner has a right to his rent, however families have a right to a roof over their heads with winter coming!!!

It's not even raining here.

And yes.. he does work for the government.

And he did vote once in California. To cancel out my vote for governor.
