Welcome forward moving and thinking mamas! This thread is mostly dedicated to mamas talking about moving forward in all ways especially running and related subgroups of activity. Throw in a handful of recipes, the occasional baby lurk, gear tips, injury prevention techniques and lots of good mama wisdom and you've got the Dingo Cafe! Welcome everyone!

good day ladies.

I had my 1st ever mammogram today. It wasn't bad at all, and didn't hurt.

I aslo had a message from my Dr's office that my new thyroid meds (armour) were called in today. I can't wait to start taking them. I see her in 6 weeks.

Is anyone familiar with teh Presidential Fitness Challenge, for kids? My 8yo mentioned that they were doing it this year. Last week, she did the sit ups, and met the minimum. The stretching in a wide V, she did was not able to complete, and she could only do 1.5 chin ups and needed 2. But the run back and forth (agility???) she did pass. I guess you have to pass 3 of the 5 criteria to get teh award??? Anyway, yesterday, of teh40 kids in her PE class ( 2 homerooms), there were only 8 who passed 2 of 4. So those 8 had to run a mile (she said a mile, could she be wrong??). She ran it in 10.03, so she didn;t make it (all other 7 kids did).

But I'm thinking that 10.03 is pretty good for an 8 y/o, no?? I wish I could run a 10 min mile, LOL,. Anyone familiar with teh challenge???

hi - checking in. rode laps around the yard last night on my cross bike and did some pilates dvd. may run today if i can make some progress at work.

so last week my dh was in vegas. he's saw Lance race in a cyclocross race. He didn't take this photo, but it was taken at the exact moment that someone spilled beer all over the course. DH said it was crazy. check out those calves!

Hi everyone!

Mandy, I thought of you today as a guy on a cyclocross bike rode past me on the rail trail ! Cross looks like FUN! Was your DH at Interbike?

Back to the old thread, Lisa and Kristin, I am also an "almost A" cup and actually wear those Almost-A bras, but I prefer a little padding, just to round out my shape (or lack thereof) a little bit.

I walked 6 miles this morning with a friend on the trails. This afternoon I'm taking the girls out for a bike ride in the trailer, and tonight I've got Pilates. Phew...

Hi y'all!
Just logging in, 4.5 on Monday, 3 easy yesterday, and 3 tempo today. hip feels good if I remember to massage and stretch it! Can somebody remind me to stretch, please? : I get home and make coffee and everybody's 2nd breakfast and I just don't get there.

If you are a skirt sports fan, they are having a huge sale this week....

I'm still around (thanks for asking Callie)...I just find it hard to manage life and keep up with the dingos.

I did 4 with 2 miles tempo yesterday. I think I'm going to try and run on the treadmill tomorrow while E naps. I'm struggling to find a way to get my run in on thursdays. Dd has a huge walk in school that day and it's too much to ask her to bike 5 miles on top of that. I'm supposed to walk with her class either to the place or back, which screws with E's nap. And then I can't run. So I guess I'll try this and see if it works or not. Sigh.

On bras...Once upon a time I was a 'C' cup. Now? I'm maybe an A cup. I bought a bra about three months ago to address the chafing from my too large bra....well I'm chafing again from this bra that is now too big. Sigh. I'm going to have to call the place where I order bras to see if they can special order a 30 B (the A's for some reason are too small). The one I have now is a 32B.

DrJen ~ thanks for taking over the list . Can you take me off for this weekend's 5K? Too many kids activities (soccer, birthday parties, etc.) for me to be able to race .

I'm back from my gyn appt. and the lump is either a cyst or an enlarged milk duct. Either way, she's not very concerned. I am so relieved and can stop thinking about the darned things all the time. She did find a marble sized cyst in the *ahem* farther south portion of the exam. She was amazed that neither dh nor I had noticed it. I'm not sure what that says about us.

Also wanted to shout out a big Thank You to Geo for suggesting the MathIsFun website. It has helped dd's math and confidence a lot. :

Subbing... :

A lovely double workout today. First up, track, wherein we did 6x600 with 200 recoveries. The 600's were split into 200 at 5k pace, 200 at 10k pace, 200 at 5k pace, which actually made them tolerable.

And then, a wonderful birthday ride with a good friend. There were three of us, plus kiddos in the trailers. We had a nice ride in the beautiful fall/indian summer weather, followed by playground time/lunch/birthday mimosas to celebrate!

Now I'm just trying to get motivated to go shower two workouts worth of stank off of me. P.U...

I'm back in the world of cellphones and loving my new phone...very very cool.

And for one more disjointed thought...almost scheduled my surgery for next (!) Thursday but realized just in time that I'm supposed to work Friday night and the following Monday, so that's probably not the best idea. Hopefully I can get in on the 16th, or it may be November...he's not doing surgery on the 23rd, and I really don't want to do it on the 30th and screw up Halloween...

i need to catch up :

i have been sicker than a dog lately. it has been so long since i actually come down with anything like a cold or flu that this one has taken me out. started with sore throat [on fire!] and fever then transferred in to serious sinus pain and congestion and now the last act is a cough.

question: does anyone know if lacking an ovary can cause me to feel menopausal...ever? i feel dumb about this stuff : but this morning when i got out of bed i got a HUGE hot flash and started to sweat big time and then it was over. i felt like i was going to pass out. i suppose it could just be sickness related but it was very strange.

mandy - how was pdx? did you do any of the kid things?

eks - how are you doing these days? i've been meaning to ask b/c i feel like you haven't been around the thread much or maybe it's me that hasn't kept up

plady - yay deck! woot! looks nice...

i took a day off from running yesterday due to aforementioned ebola virus so i hope to at least walk tomorrow if not run.

Poppy - I keep meaning to email you. K and I went to OMSI on Friday morning and had a blast. he loved the submarine. and that huge area for preschoolers was great, but we didn't find it until it was nearly time to go. My brother's wedding was at Beacon Rock State Park, and ds was very entertained with the forest and playing in the dirt. Edgefield has a great soaking pool now, so we spent a lot of time in the outdoor pool. They keep it heated so even now it was just lovely.

happy to report two sections of the pilates dvd were done today. better than nothing.

Planning to get out tomorrow to run, if I can get Mr. Cheerful to sleep any time soon. Ah, to have the energy of a four year old...

Waaa! Mandy was in Portland!!! Soooo close... yet so far awayyyyy...

No RR to report. Back in classes. I am tired. Must go to bed. I love my Dingoes. Someday I will actually start running or cycling again. I took a junker bike frame to the shop this week for commuter tires and a tune-up, so hopefully I will start doing that twice a week or so. NOT hopefully!!! I WILL.

Blork. I'm really beat -- must sign off, but I needed to end my radio silence and say that, while I am quiet, I still have much dingo lurrrve.
