~huzzah! it's october! *pagan family circle*~ - Page 2

Ooh I'll be watching for the other pagan forum idea.

Happy October all! Good god, I love this time of year. Well the fun usually starts with September, but it wasn't too chilly this September. Oh I can't wait to have cold toes!! : I love it!

Mr Toona and I are at opposite ends of the spiritual spectrum, so I find it hard to do what I need to do, spiritually speaking. (Well for that reason and having DD around). But I think this is the time of year for me to clean off the back porch and make my own little sacred space. : I did have a sort of mental wash the other night during the new moon when it rained... Do you all have any sort of spiritual community? I think I need to find that and to make myself go. I've flirted with the more : ish UU church, but I can't seem to get myself into a pattern with going.

Something I haven't shared: Last month my grandfather was diagnosed with bladder cancer. They believe it has been growing for years but he just recently went to get it checked out. Last week the doctors removed a soft ball sized tumor but they didn't get everything. Today he goes in to see the results of the biopsy. If it's as bad as they think, they will stop treatment. :

Okay now that I've gone all depressing, I just hope I can keep up with this thread better then I did last months.
I hope everything turns out positive for your grandfather..

Do you think candles with orange flames are a tacky window decoration for Halloween? I've been thinking of getting some cheap ones for my front windows.
No, I love the color orange.
When I think about window candles, all I can think about is the kids eating them.

Tammi, .

I spent a little bit of time at The Enigma League, but it's been a while. I found that there were too many forae for me to check and it made me crazy (and took up too much time) so I stopped. I'm down to two and the home page for all of my Yahoo!Groups.

I'll think good thoughts, hopefully the mammogram won't show anything worrisome. Enjoy your visit with your hunny!

Don't ya sometimes wonder how on earth we get ourselves into these things? It sounds terrific though, I'm sure you'll make it a day!

I like Seasonal Sisters About Bear.. have they checked his liver function in the many blood tests I'm sure they've run? I know that whitish/pale poop can point to the liver misbehaving... Not quite sure why that popped into my head. Geez I really hope you catch a break soon!

I hope the biopsy results aren't as bad as they think but if they are, I wish you ALL peace as you go through what follows as a family.

I do not The pagan community locally is.. well.. full of fruitcakes lol. The 'local' UU church, which I am interested in, is about 45+ away.. in the city centre (with skyscrapers and hideous confusing roads and traffic and I just cannot cope!)

One would have a bit of trouble finding halloween decorations that *I* would find tacky hehehe. I simply ADORE halloween decorating!

I'm pretty sure that in all of the blood drawing, they did a basic metabolic panel which would have shown elevated liver enzymes (all it showed was that he was moderately to severely dehydrated, which of course we knew going in). That said, if he has to be admitted a third time with explosive yellow diarrhea, I'm sure there will be a round of even more testing. I'm still hoping that we'll avoid a third admission, but I'm not really aware of how unless he magically stops pooping or doesn't develop a fever... and he was at 99.2 (rectal, Farenheit) earlier this afternoon. :

well, i posted a last multi quote (y'all can't stop me now, MUAHAHAHAHA!) on the September thread, so you'll have to go back there to see what it was, lol!

am going to throw out again the idea that we name our little circle... so that i can stop saying to dh "today, on the pagan thread...." it sounds so... cold.
i dunno, "the Pagan thread" doesn't bother me any. i get to say "Pagan", which always brings me joy

I would love to discuss the differences between pagans and the new age community. I think of pagans as the olde way and new age, well, is new. Of course I know New Age is actually ancient teachings as well. But the 'new' is the ability to embrace it openly. Mecca areas like Sedona have given New Age a much needed hand in opening our society's eyes to alternative faiths and beliefs systems.
YES, about October! mine too! i love the whole dark half of the year. LOVE it.

difference btw Pagan and new age...well, i think Pagan is more religious *and* more spiritual, can't really put my finger on why. new agey people drive me bat guano, i can't help it (please no offense to anyone here) but they always sounds so woo-woo to me. Asheville is full of new agey types and the ones i've had contact with are all very well off, financially, oftentimes aging but very well preserved (like way older women with killer bods, for example) and have tons of land and huge houses, with little altars set about and candles and..well, i have those, but it just feels different. and the women all talk really breathy and airily. i guess what i'm saying is it comes off fake to me. and the Pagans i know are as real as can be. real, down to earth, salt of the earth sorts of people.

It rained cats and dogs today- I say this becuase the kids and I headed out to pick up craft supplies, it was pouring when we left. We came home as the rain ended and in our yard were two cats and one dog. They don't belong to us...I think they are the neighbors, but it was rather odd, the rain stopped and there they were.

oh, congrats on your anniv...i'm so jealous about your relationship. that's what i've always wanted...and can't seem to get relationship after relationship has failed for me, and now here i am almost 49yo and unintentionally celibate for 6-1/2 years. gah.

hilarious on the cats and dogs!

i want to have Yule at my house. i'm tired of traveling. we usually have a one-day kind of hasty (hasty feeling, for me) Solstice celebration, and then travel umpteen miles for Christmas. usually to my mom's, 8 hours away, but last year it was at my brother's, 14+ hours away. two days travel there and back. and we didn't do Solstice at all, cause i had the punk reunion, which was uber cool, but i'm tired of traveling. i wonder if anyone here where i live will NOT be traveling so we can do something like that here!

No community here. I am so in the broom closet it isn't even funny. I live in a small town, and it just wouldn't go over here. I feel alone a lot of the time because I can't really open up, be myself.

Gross story: Ds was getting ready for bed. He was getting distracted as usual and was playing near the sofa. (he was supposed to be putting on pj's but only got as far as the top.)
Suddenly, he shouts that he has to go to the bathroom and he runs at top speed.
Then I hear him yelling about something from the bathroom. I go in and there's poop everywhere. Massive diarrhea. There was a trail of it leading to the bathroom and it was all over the floor and toilet. Poor kid was horrified.

I expected he'd get some after all the intravenous antibiotics he had but I didn't expect it to be so severe. Now I'm wondering if I'll have to keep him out of school for yet another day.

Please send healing energy. I don't want him to miss his second full stay day at school. Oh, and he won't eat yogurt or take probiotics.
maybe redveg

hmm....sneak the yogurt into ice cream ? Ice cream was the mantra in our house growing up when any of us were sick
