Thanks. Yeah, I think it's a funny story now. Heck, I thought it was pretty funny last night. The whole reason the LOs woke up was because 17yo ds and his friends were outside making noise so he pretty much set himself up to be busted. Not to mention that my dh was still up finishing up after painting the dining room. He saw the girls come in and gave me this look like, "What the heck is going on?" Of course, he didn't say or do anything. I couldn't see them because I was in another room. So, when I came upstairs to see who was here and why the alcohol was sitting right in plain sight. He's never been good at hiding his escapades.

Sounds like an entertaining night there Marinewife! I would have been pissed!

So my sister called me a bit ago laughing her butt off. She had just gotten off the phone with my mom and the topic had been fertility. My mom asked her if I was as serious as I sounded about being done and my sister said yup and if it weren't for a variety of reasons I'd go get an IUD. You know what my mom says/does? Offers to get it for me. : I'm going to get it (the paraguard) so I will only be hanging around here until then. I'm still planning on charting afterwards but only for my own personal pleasure. I'm enjoying it currently. I just don't want to rely on it for birth control since I am violently opposed to getting pregnant. I know the rates of it and all but given that I don't have that experience with it and being nervous about it I don't want to take any chances. I'd rather my fertility not be an open ended option right now anyhow yk?

ETA: Ok that sounds weird. My mom is all about helping out in any way she can. She just doesn't want me to feel "stuck" (her word) with something I don't want. I've been planning on an IUD anyhow so it all works out. she's really not just a weirdo not wanting anymore grandbabies.

That feeling is what led me to get a copper IUD, which we didn't get our money's worth out of before my body expelled it. : But it worked great while it worked!

MarineWife, thanks for the reassurance and I'm sorry you had such a rough night.

To continue the story a bit, turns out the booze was the girls and not my son's. My ds said it was his so the girls wouldn't get in trouble. He's such a gentleman, huh?

I was beginning to think I had Oed. CD1-10 I took my temp at 6 am but I've been taking it at 5 am the last 3 days. The time change is because dh is home and his alarm is set for 5 am. I don't use an alarm when he's away. Anyway, yesterday and today, when I adjusted my temps for the time difference, they were above my CL and my CF seems to have dried up. Then I realized I hadn't adjusted my temp for cd11. Once I did that it didn't look so much like a thermal shift. *sigh*

Hello ladies!
This is my first time charting. This month is a trial month for me as I get into the routine of taking my temp every am.

This brings me to my first question:
In the mornings, I'm often quite congested (due to allergies). Would this affect my temperature? Is there another time that would still give accurate results?

I'm going to be joining you in one month. I am having my Mirena out on October 27, will chart to avoid for 6 months or so before TTC. I'm so envious of all of your charting knowledge and will learn from this thread I am sure! I just got TCOYF and a BB thermometer this weekend.

Please move me from Graduates back up to Charting to Avoid. My husband and I have decided that we are not ready to TTC after all...

Please add my chart next to my name: , and write that I have been CTA since June '04.

Thank you.

MarineWife - I can see why that makes you even more sure you want to CTA right now! That's crazy. And hilarious.

Funky_red_hat - love the name Nancybotwin too. Hope you enjoy it here.

I'm home sick with a sinus infection today : I don't think my temp from this morning is accurate, but doesn't matter much since AF is here anyway. Just means a less "pretty" chart.

welcome funky red hat and nancybotwin, I'll get you guys added next time I'm at my computer.. and Feminine Earth, welcome back (I'll correct the spacing in your name next time too)

You guys, I went to the dr today because I have a very painful bump on my arm near my elbow.. it's a swollen lymphnode and apparently I have cat scratch fever! I got a new kitten, adopted from a feral mother, two months ago so it makes sense. I feel like poop, so I'm going to fill my RX and go to back to bed. I'll make the changes as soon as I'm back at the computer.

Marine Wife, I do not envy you. Teenagers are what scare me about parenthood. my nieces are 16 and 11 so I've had a little taste of what teens can be like. It certainly is a wild ride. They'll keep you on your toes.

I gave up temps last month after the new thermometer wasn't going to help my chart any. I'm pretty sure last month was annovulatory (the giant temp spike is the old vs new thermometer). It was a 35 day cycle.. the longest I can remember. I'm about ready to stop CTA (meaning I'm ready for #2) but since a m/c in June I've had 3 cycles: one with a 4-5 day LP, one regular and then annovulatory. So I'd like to see a couple regular cycles first but I don't know if I can make myself wait that long.

I don't think it will matter unless you have an infection and you have a fever. Your thermometer might take more time to register the temp if you sleep with your mouth open. Or you can always temp vaginally.....

Welcome back! I guess you are juggling TTC/CTA while being a student like me. We have pushed back our TTC date again from Jan. 2009 to April 2009.

Make sure to pick up a copy of Taking Charge of your Fertility. It is a great reference.

Oh my! That doesn't sound good.

I'm still waiting on AF here. My parents are visiting right now so I'm not even temping since we are staying at their condo. Last cycle my LP was 8 days so we will see what this cycle brings. I'm 99% positive I'm not pregnant so I'm not worried about being late. *knocks on wood* now you will see me on here panicking in a couple days

Is cat scratch fever really an illness? I just thought it was a song.

Teens aren't really that bad. They can be a lot of fun. My ds turns me on to all kinds of new music and fashions and keeps me up to date with the new goings on with young people. (I can't believe I'm "talking" that way. I'm sooo old! )We had a few very rough years from 13-15 but that was mostly my problem. I was being too uptight about everything.

It's really fun to watch him growing more and more into an adult every day. He shaved off his mohawk yesterday because he decided it was an impediment to getting a job. He determine that all on his own. I am not really upset about the alcohol. I let him drink if he wants. He's never gotten drunk in my presence. My dh is the one who's uptight about that. He thinks we have to have all kinds of arbitrary rules just because. My issue with that was the girls. I know their parents would not have approved and I won't go against someone else's parents.

Anyway, nothing really going on with my cycle. I think I'm on cd15. I don't know if I Oed or if my body is doing it's regular normal cycle psych out. My CF has dried up and my temps went up slightly. So, if I have two more days of dry CF and no clear O, would it be safe to have unprotected sex? That will be 4 days of dry after my last peak.

Not that we'll do it anyway. My mom is coming to visit so we won't be able to sneak off to the other room. I'm not very interested, either. I kind of feel like, "what's the point?" if we aren't ttc. That sounds really bad. I like sex, especially with my dh. I'm just not that motivated if the purpose isn't to make a baby.

Hello all,
I am a newbie. I just had my first ppaf on the 26th of last month. I have been trying to temp every morning, but my ds (11mo) still wakes up often and my temps are all over the place. AF was very different for me. It was very short and light, mostly spotting. My cycles have always been regular and VERY heavy. Lately I have been very dry, cervix is very high, closed and firm. I have also been having weird pg symptoms (sore bbs, emotional, short temper, nausea, fatigue) DH just got back from Iraq and we haven't dtd without condoms at all. I am waiting for my tests to come in the mail. We don't want more babies (well, I wouldn't mind, but DH is dead set against it) Anyway, should I just keep temping or give it up till DS sleeps through the night, and keep a close eye on cf and cp? Thanks ladies,

MarineMommy. I'm a Marine wife.

There are quite a few of us on here temping and charting with night waking nurslings. I don't have a trouble with it. My first few charts were wacky and that was without nursing and night waking. Also, the first few PP cycles can be wacky. I just started getting mine back in June, when ds was about 12 months old. So far, I've had one really long cycle with possible O at cd45 and two very short anov cycles. My AFs have been very light and short, very heavy and long and then very light and short again.

I forgot to mention about my cycle this time, I think this morning's temp is probably not very accurate. I was up half the night with the baby since he's sick and I temped an hour later than usual. Plus, I can feel the cold coming on for me.

I would think tomorrow evening you are safe. That is 4 days after PK day. But since I am very against a pregnancy right now, I don't have sex without a condom once I get EWCM even if it switches to dry again.

what test in the mail? A pregnancy test? I didn't know they did that. I would keep temping. I sleep like **** pretty much every night and you can still see my thermal shifts. As long as you aren't getting up at night and walking to the baby. Actually getting up before temping can mess with the temps. Do you co sleep?

MarineWife: I am aMarine wife too!!! I was a Marine myself for 8 years...hence the screen name!!

Yes, I ordered some pg test strips in the mail. Have a feeling I may be pregnant...but maybe I am having that feeling because I want to be pregnant and am not....anyhow.
We do co-sleep. I don't get up in the middle of the night except to roll over to feed. I'll keep temping...and have faith that eventually I'll get crosshares!!

Nice to meet you ladies!!

I'll post when I get the tests!!

Thanks. It doesn't apply anymore. I got more ewcm today. Oh well. I'm a bit confused, though. When I was getting sticky cf, my cervix was between hso and mmm. Now that I have ewcm, it's lfc.
