Team BeachBody?

I've been hanging out at another *place* online catching up with many an old friend. I came across my high school boyfriend's sister, and she is a Team Beach Body Coach. We chatted a bit, and I am pretty impressed with everything she has said about how this program has changed her life. It sure seems like a good mix of physical, mental and emotional exercise--combining eating and fitness as a whole new life style. It turns out that a lot of our mutual friends are doing this program with great success.

I am wondering if anyone here has tried any of the DVD's. She has links on her site to the Team Beach Body page where the videos and supplements can be found. I am not usually enthusiastic about programs like these, but I know her, she's amazing,a dn her enthusiasm is absolutely infectious!

Any opinions are greatly welcomed...

I have done P90X, the instructor Tony is way to annoying for me to listen to or to keep the set, plus its really just basic weight training set to a DVD, go online and find a program and do it on your own

borrowed yoga booty ballet from someone, hated it, oh hated it, not enough to burn calories and was annoying (IMHO)

the new 10min trainer is the same guy as P90x and its just a supplimental program, once you get it he instructions are to do the 10min dvds along with 1hr of cardio a day and 2-3 days of weight training

I would say to try the Body For Life eating program book)and for training buy the book New Rules on Lifting for Women

good luck

I have P90x and I really like it. I know some people from other boards that have used other Beach Body programs and had great results. If you are thinking about gettinga program I say go for it

I have to disagree that it is just "basic weight training". In p90x there is resistance training but there is also cardio, stretching, and yoga, it is sooo much more than basic weight training. That said, not every fitness program works for everyone... The only one that works is one you can stick to.

My partner and I have Slim in 6, Turbo Jam, Power 90 and Power 90X. We like them all, and we've both lost 20 lbs since the spring. She's doing P90X now and is getting ridiculously buff, it's a great program. I like the weights in P90 and really enjoy the cardio in Turbo Jam. We love the programs.

I'm on week 8 of P90X, and I love it. And I also disagree that it's just basic weight training. I used to do basic weight training. This is so much more, and I'm never bored with it. I was also in good shape when I started it, and it still kicked my butt. I've never like home workout videos, but this has really exceeded my expectations. I'm even thinking of becoming a coach after this first round of P90X to supplement our income.

I'm not doing the diet or using the supplements, though. I don't think the diet is totally bad, but there are parts of it I don't agree with, and I don't care for "diets" in general. I don't care much for supplements either. I received a container of the recovery drink with my order, and I think it's disgusting! Plus, the ingredients just turn me off, as well.

I also wanted to add that the DVDs have the option of turning off Tony's voice, minus the cues, if you find him annoying.

I have some slim in 6 dvds. I like the more advanced ones you can buy. The instructer doesn't get on my nerves, the music is not obnoxious, and there are no dance moves. If you don't like lunges or squats i don't recommend them though, they are her favorite moves

Thanks for the replies. I am in the process of setting things up with Traci to get started. I am pretty excited to be starting an actual coach relationship with someone I have always admired! And, she's in the P90X video, so it feels a bit like I am working out with her ...

From the standpoint of a former athlete gone flabby mama, I am all for the weight-training. But, from what I saw so far, it is far from that. In fact, it looks to be about as thorough a workout as I can find on any exercise DVD. I am so ready to have my sexy arms and abs back!!!

Yay! That's great. I'm sure you'll like it.
Which P90X video is she in?

That's cool she got to be in the video! I haven't seen the P90X+ videos yet.

Hey. I didn't get very far on her webpage - the idea sounds great - but if you've seen one of these - you've seen them all.

Here's my beachbody - it just takes hard work no matter where you get your program from......

Me and the kids

I'm not knocking her workout - I guess I'm just saying that it is possible to do it without spending a bunch of money. I mean - you either have the desire or you don't... YKWIM?

You look awesome, mama!! I had a very similar shape a while back. I miss it. The reason I chose this program was actually the support I am getting from my friend. I have a hard time getting into a new routine without accountability, and Traci is providing daily feedback and some very motivating words for me.
I defintely agree about how much alike all of the programs are. I never ever would have spent money on a program like this had it not been for the community of friends involved with this particular one. And the fact that it's scheduled (like when I used to have a swim coach planning my 2 hour workouts on a daily basis). When it comes to exercise, that's what I need.

Wow, you got that stomach after three kids just by working out? I've been told lately that it isn't possible without a tummy tuck (and I am SO not into elective surgery, so that's out of the question for me). What does your workout look like?

Well, I saw the infomercial this Sunday and it really did look good. The ad made me want to buy it all! I wish my thighs looked like my arms and abs. I just know this routine could get me there!

Pariah - You can have abs without a tummy tuck. I've certainly never had one. I do think the fact that I had my last child at 27 had something to with it. I do think it is easier to bounce back the younger your skin is..... But yes - I got my flat stomach by working out and eating right.

Let's see - I kickbox. I have been doing that for 4 years. I run outdoors. And I lift a lot of weights. I do the machines at the gym and free weights. I do push the weights further and further. I only do abs when I am in class and they work them in. I probably do abs about once a week for 10 minutes.....

Thank you dillonandmarasmom! I appreciate the compliment. I'm pushing 40 years old and I need all the encouragement I can get.

So, I completed day 2 today, plyometrics. OMG, I feel powerful! And. so. sore. I have sore muscles that are saying "hi" to me for the first time. ever. It's amazing! But, after each of the workouts, the kids and I have a high-five fest, and hoot and holler. They are excited for me, which is even more motivating.

I love the fact that every day is different. I think it's a brilliant mix for me. I am looking forward to working my arms, shoulders and abs tomorrow.

Thus far, I would highly recommend this workout. Although, I definitely believe a background in athletics or muscle training is a plus. Thank Goddess for muscle memory!

UGH! I did plyometrics today, too. I'm on week 11, and it's still tough. Shoulders and arms for me tomorrow, too. Have you done AbRipperX yet? If not, oh boy. It hurts!
I was SO sore the first week., only slightly sore the second week, and then, I still get sore on occasion after a recovery week. I hope you enjoy the rest of week 1.

boy, nak makes posts make no sense.

i gave away the 10 minute trainer dvds to my mother who has a 2-hr commute and could use a quick routine to get her going. she also walks daily for at least 30 minutes, so it's just a bit more to help her out.

and yes, you can have 'abs like that' without surgery after having a baby assuming 1. you work out and eat right; 2. you have a similar body type (no doubt that if i did the exact same routine as lab, i wouldn't look as "lean"--my body retains a softness, even when i was a triathlete, i was 5-7 and 118, but i didn't look like her. so, people do look different); and 3. you have very little or no loose skin. i'm finding that my skin is 'bouncing back' well just 7.5 weeks post partum, and i figure that by december i'll be looking the way i'm used to if not sooner (i'm already getting definition in my upper abs, but there's a good deal of loose skin and excess fat on my lower abs and hips (lower back-hip area), and i'm not back into my regular exercise routine even.

things to help "firm up skin" include vitamin E (on the skin and in the diet), selenium (found in brazil nuts--two a day gives the RDA!), magnesium, and a variety of others....

anyway, yeah, after my mom had my sister (she was 28 i think?) she was in excellent shape from weight training (still also didn't look quite like lab, but was definitely very fit), and being 32, i feel like i won't be far behind my mom's sort of progress.

i start weight training tomorrow!

I did AbRipperX on day one. Ouch. Yes, that one was very tough to keep up with. I am proud to say i kept form with them and took my time. I haven't done day three yet (my grandma passed away this morning, so I am taking life very slowly today), but I am looking forward to working through this stiffness in my arms. I have to say, it feels so good to be sore. It's been a very long time for me.
