Team BeachBody? - Page 5

I'm so excited that I had to post! I just ordered Chalean Extreme! Yay. And I got a $20 discount from being a coach. I still have 4 weeks to go with P90X, but I wanted to make sure that I had CLX by the time I'm done in March. I can't wait. I've been checking out the CLX message boards on Beachbody and everyone seems to really be liking it. I was even thinking of starting my own crunchy mamas thread.

So, anyway, today is week 10 of P90X. I just ran a 10K yesterday. I'm feeling so much stronger now than I did on week 10 of my first round. So the second one has made a huge difference.

That's great to hear, Leslie! Way to go on the 10k, too. I really want to get back into those...and maybe a half marathon, too.

BTW, which version of P90X did you do? I am trying to decide which to do for my second round. Thinkin' probably "lean".

Thanks for checking in

I've been doing Classic for both rounds. I did a test week when I first got it back in August, and I did the Lean version. I decided I wanted more so I ended up going with the classic version.

Was Lean too easy? I definitely want to keep working myself this hard, so maybe Classic is the way to go.

I hurt my back yesterday getting up from the couch, LOL, so I am going to take yoga easy today. Almost done with this round...pretty excited! I may actually weigh and measure myself this time. From my clothes, I can tell I have really lost A LOT of my butt! My upper abs are solid and visible, and DS has told me I no longer have a squishy belly...so I guess my progress has been pretty darn good .

Have I mentioned in this thread how much I absolutely LOVE this program?!!

Yeah, I thought Lean was too easy. CardioX was kind of a joke for me. I could see doing it if you were going to do doubles, but if you've been doing Plyo, you will probably find CardioX to be way too easy. Core Syn is a good workout, but I felt like I would be missing out on great workouts that it takes the place of with the Lean program.

I've totally changed up things with this 2nd round by adding in Plus workouts and Cardio 5-6 from One-On-One with Tony Horton. Plus, I do a spin class and runs during the week, too. Today I did yin yoga at the gym instead of YogaX at home. I've really enjoyed making things more flexible by not sticking to the rigid P90X schedule/workouts. It's been more fun. I also found that AbRipperX wasn't really doing as much for me so I started substituting the old ab DVD I had called Perfect Abs. I actually felt and saw a difference once I started doing that one. Now, I'm adding AbRipper back in to my workouts, and I'm feeling it again.

I hope your back is feeling better now, dillonandmarasmom. That has to be one of the worst injuries. Ugh. You should definitely weigh and measure!! It's cool just to see the results.
I've actually gained 2 lbs. on this 2nd round; I'm pretty sure it's muscle, though, as I've seen a little loss of fat. Not much in inches, though. My body seems to be bulking up. I'm looking forward to CLX to see if I have more of a change. I will take some day 180 pics in a few weeks. Then maybe I'll post links to day 0, 90 and 180 for y'all. The difference in 0 and 90 was very minimal. I'm expecting about the same for 180. I'm in really good shape, but I still have huge hips and big arms.

I'm totally bummed out about the Bowflex Dumbbells I ordered off of eBay. The supplier for the seller made a mistake and oversold the dumbbells so I ended up with only one. The seller is extremely apologetic and will return 50% of the money, but this is a HUGE pain. I can't find one dumbbell anywhere for sale. We have the option of returning it, but it's at our expense. Um, no thanks. The shipping alone will cost over $50. So I'm left with attempting to sell the single dumbbell I got on Craigslist. If that doesn't happen, then I just have to keep an eye out for one dumbbell for sale on eBay. I really don't know what kind of feedback to leave for the seller, either. I hate to leave anything less than positive, but this is causing A LOT of trouble. Ugh. Sorry to complain here. I'm not usually much of a complainer, but this just really bummed me out today.

So, anyway, back to Beachbody. I'm totally with you, dillonandmarasmom, I love, love, love this program, too.

Update on the dumbbells.
Someone put up single dumbbells on EBAY this morning for about the same price I had paid for the original one so I ordered it. So it all worked out. Yay!

I thought I would bump this up. How is everyone doing? We are done with week 8 of P90X lean, and I have lost over 7 inches around my waist and 12 lbs. So excited!

I feel like my last few posts have been downers (in terms of my progress and downfalls)...so hopefully I can be on the up and up now.

I am getting over a cold and ruptured eardrum...okay that's a downer...BUT, in hte process, I have lost an additional 5 pounds thanks to not eating much, so I ma ready to get back on the program. I am starting week 1 of P90X classic and adding weight and reps to everything. So, we'll see how this round goes.

Oh, and if you are on WOWY and want to vote for the Million Dollar Body game winner, my good old friend's mama is in the top eight and would love your vote. Go to WOWY, click on "Play the game" and vote for Mary Crawford. Her story is inspiring!!

Keep pressin' play everyone!

Hey there -

OK I just read all 5 pages of this thread! I logged on to ask some question - I can't remember now!

This program sounds amazing! I spent some time on the website but it just looks like more stuff for me to buy. Ugh.

Can someone tell me a bit what this program looks like in your life? I mean - do you belong to a gym also or no? I read someone does this while their kids are around - do you have one room with a TV you do this in with weights and a pull up bar? It kinda sounded like it. I don't have a TV in a room big enough... not sure what I would do with that... Do you buy a set of DVD's then advance to the next? Can you find them cheaper used?

Also I'm wondering if this would be a good fit for 'me'. I have a weak back (probably from a weak core and lifting my huge kids for the past 4 years). But I'm pretty limited at the moment. But I want my body back!!!! I joined they gym here the day after Christmas (was my present from dh), went 6 weeks, saw a lot of great progress but no weight loss. I also wanted to amp it up so hired a personal trainer there - I asked for someone who was aware of post pregnancy bodies - they gave me a nice young guy who tore up my legs. I told him I wanted to concentrate on my core and arms - but he really overworked me. I HURT (way beyond any sore I'd ever been) for 3 days, then was the 'normal' kinda sore for 2 days after that. Anyway! 3 days after that I pulled by back, and am now back to where I started.

So I have a bad back and have 20 lbs to loose. I'm very out of shape and very 'loose'. Its gross and I want to change! Also my diets not great and I haven't been able to get a handle on it at all. I went to weight watchers after each child, did well both times - but haven't done well with that in the past few months. I just bought the South Beach diet book so will try that.

So!!! I love that this program sounds like there's a couch to keep ya on track, that you measure yourself and take pics (I've found that encouraging). But I just can't keep spending money on this stuff.

Thanks so much! I wish I could find a friend near by to do this with! But its hard to find someone ready to be motivated at the same time. I'm completely rambling! Sorry I'm crazy tired. Congrats on you all's great results!

Hi Cari!
I am NAK, but I'll try to answer a couple of your questions...
No, I don't belong to a gym.
It takes me 1 to 1.5 hours each day to do my workout (and the kids took a couple of weeks before they realized they should only interrupt if they really needed me).
I bought the P90X program, but it's pretty hardcore. It requires some weights and a pull-up bar OR workout bands.
If your back is troubling you, it may just be that your core needs strengthening. Beach Body has several different programs (other than the P90 series) that may be a better fit.

LeslieB is a coach now. She will be able to better answer your questions.

Good luck!

Yay! Go for it! I don't regret my purchase of this program at all. Click on LeslieB's link in her sig, too. That way you end up with her as your coach, and she benefits, too!

I got back on track yesterday and am so sore! But, even after some time off, I was actually able to do more of everything. It felt great! I got in 20 push-ups at a time, 16 pull-ups, and even did the diamond push-ups for the first time.

Love this program!:

Hey Cari! Welcome to the thread. From what you wrote, it sounds like you would probably like the Beachbody products. I have a VERY small house and limited space to do my workouts, but I really think they think of that when they make them. You don't need much space to do the workouts. I just started Chalean Extreme last Monday. I really like it so far. I'm finding it pretty challenging, and I just finished two rounds of P90X. I'd definitely recommend it, even for a beginner. Her ab workouts really do work the whole core.
I still have a gym membership. I go once a week to spin class. Occasionally, I will go twice a week to do yoga or just run on the treadmill, but for the most part, I've been able to give up the gym in order to do P90X and Chalean Extreme. I can do it whenever I have the time. I've never ever been a fan of home workout videos until now. I can't get over how good they really are. Just take a look at their message boards to see the real before and after pictures of people. And they have so many different workouts so you can pick the one that fits you best and then go from there. They do cost money; it seems like a lot, but when you figure out how much you use them, it's really not much at all. You can buy a lot of the workouts off of EBAY for less money. I got P90X+ for about half the price. There are a few scams going on with that so just make sure you read the feedback before you bid or buy something from there.
It's definitely worth a try. And as far as staying motivated, you can use Beachbody's online gym called WOWY. If you click on the link in my signature, click on the tab that says "Join" and then click on "Join our community for free". You can sign up to use WOWY that way. You log in everyday while you workout, and you can see all the other people working out with you. I really like using it. Plus, you enter into a daily sweepstakes every day that you workout. I have yet to win anything, but you never know! It's a good way to keep you motivated, though. The Beachbody community message boards are a good place for information and sharing with other people, too.
Hope this helps, Cari!

I just wanted to add that I don't benefit in any way by you signing up for WOWY using my link. I would just become your coach. The only time I would benefit would be if you decided to become a coach yourself someday.

Not part of your group but I was hoping maybe I could ask a question?

My husband would like to try P90x (I wish I could but I'm 23 weeks pregnant...oh well). He doesn't work out currently but is fairly motivated. I just don't want him to get in over his head but I'd like him to still be challenged of course. Which of the programs would he start with? The previous posts sound like the classic is too hard for beginners?

We've found a good deal on eBay for the DVD's...otherwise I'd buy through Leslie's signature...sorry!
Hi. I don't see why he couldn't give P90X a go, unless he's extremely out-of-shape or overweight. If he is, he might want to start with P90. But if he's in okay shape, he really shouldn't have problems with P90X. Even if he can't keep up for the first few weeks or the first month, he should really be hanging in there after that. He will be sore no matter what. If he's really motivated, then I don't think he'll have a problem sticking to it. Classic should be fine to start with, too. If it is too difficult, he could always switch to Lean for the first round.
Good luck to him! Let us know how it goes. And don't feel bad about buying off of EBAY. I bought P90X+ off of there.
I was overweight when I started P90X, and I relied on my muscle memory to get me going. DH and I are doing the lean version of P90X to drop a lot of fat before starting classic. Lean doesn't include plyo, which would have been pretty hard on my knees with the extra weight I was carrying. We will start the classic version in April!

Hey Katie! How's CLX going? I just started week 2. Have you seen the results you wanted? It's very different than P90X, but I like it. I love all the workouts except Burn It Up; I didn't find it very challenging. Burn Intervals, I love, though. And Extreme Abs. OUCH! I'm really looking forward to the next few months to see how it goes.
