You can put me on the list and I will try to keep up with the thread better this time!

We've been experiencing secondary infertility for 5+ years. I seem to be ovulating fine and the Ob/gyn said DH's SA results (he's had 2) seem good for the most part. I'm supposed to call the dr.'s office on the first day of my cycle (should be any day now) and then I think we'll be doing our first IUI (possibly unmedicated) this cycle. We would have started last cycle but we decided to take our vacation as planned and then start. I also have hypothyroidism that I started treament for about a year ago.

Needle: Welcome. We are doing our first unmedicated IUI cycle next week. With DS as well, I have never done an unmedicated cycle before.....we shall see.....Did you doc give you the same song and dance "statistics show that you are no more likely to conceive with an IUI than with just BD."

Thanks for the info... I have been actually doing clomid with a trigger shot which is suppose to force O, i thought. So does that mean that sometimes that doesn't make the egg release?? I think our next step is injections hormones instead of clomid I would think, hopefully we won't even have to go there. :

My Dr told me the same thing. He says that it gives the sperm help getting where it is supposed to go therefore better chances w/ conceiving. I am not quite ready to go there yet. DH isn't convinced w/ all the pills, u/s, etc. Going to try a few more months just on our own.. and then reevaluate.


This is my first weekend off in a month, going to go do something fun and try not to think about when AF is going to arrive!!!

Did your doctor mean unmedicated IUI or any IUI?
My dr. didn't say anything about the odds of conceiving, I think she just thinks we might as well try a couple of cycles unmedicated and then move to medicated if those are unsuccessful. The thing is, I feel like the IUI will take a lot of pressure off so even if the odds aren't necessarily better, I still feel like it's worth trying.

Good luck with this first cycle I'm still waiting on my cycle to start so I can call my dr.

I believe the doctor meant any IUI. I have a hard time with believeing it because I have had such great success in the past.

Our meeting with our RE is on November 5th!! We are going to talk about doing some IUIs instead of IVF this time (my first child is an IVF babe). Hopefully we can start soon!

Thanks for all of the sticky vibes- it may be working. I've been trying not to think much about this until I see the RE again on Thursday. Last night was terrible, bad cramps and quite a lot of spotting, but my temp was still up this morning and nothing more today.

I'm pretty emotionless right now- my only saving grace. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks so much for the support. I've not told anyone IRL except my DH, and I can't really talk with him about it. He's supportive, but practical, and just doesn't get it.

If this is a chemical, at least we know I can conceive, right? That's information we didn't have previously. We can address that for future pregnancies, if it comes to that. I'm just trying to find the silver lining here.
