What is a typical vaccination schedule

My son is 9 weeks old and went to the ped for his checkup and first round of vaccine. He was born full term, vaginally, and in perfect health. I am worried by the amount of shots he got. He had DTap, Polio, Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, Hib, Rotavirus. All five require a second dose at 4 months. : He didn't show any negative reaction to the vaccine, but I still want to get an idea what is a typical vaccination schedule for a child from birth to maybe 2 years of age. I would like to do some research before hand.

You can find the schedule on the CDC website. Vaccines are not required. I have a link to this site in my siggy: Inside Vaccines.

DS#1 and #2 were both vaxed on the CDC schedule (silly mom didn't know any better) but they never had any trouble with the first round of the vax it was always the second dose that they spiked fevers and were fussy.

And a third dose at 6 months, and a few will "need" a 4th dose within a year. Here's a link to a pdf from the cdc's site.

This site has some well-written articles with sources and links to interesting places (like the CDC's Pink books, descriptions of the diseases that vaccines are intended to prevent--really interesting reading).

babies under 6 months not only have an open blood/brain barrier,

they also do not make many/any antibodies to vaccines!

So best to just put them ALL off until baby is over 2.

By then you may also develop a faith in the strength of the nature of your child's immune system, seeing how strong she is compared to all the over vaxed kids around her...and decide no more are necessary.

Ok, I take it back. I do notice some change in him although minor compare to some of the severe reaction I read about here. Even my husband who doesn't know anything about the pros and cons of vaccine noticed our baby's change. He is sleeping less than he used to. Before the vaccine, he can sleep for almost 5-6 hours straight and now the most he can sleep is 3 hours at a time. Before, he was only fussy when he's hungry or needs a diaper change and now he often cry for a couple of hours at night for no reason whats so ever. Yesterday, he had his first blow out and the poop was unusually smelly and almost blackish green. I did some research and it seems to me that over vaccination seems to produce the same effect as over use of antibiotics, it produces a ripe environment for the old bacteria and viruses to mutate into new strains. I am not going to get my baby more vaccination, at least not till he's 2 like Lioralourie suggested.

a little skit about the vaccine schedule:

I like the part where one of the parents asks the doctor: "When was the last time you had 17 vaccines in four months, doctor?"

be sure to read the comments

GOOD FOR YOU (and your son)!! I hope your babe returns to normal. As you research, you may find yourself rejecting ALL vaccines. I did once I started reading into it. Don't decide until you have really looked at it. This site is a tremendous resource. I looked at each individual illness and each related vaccine. There are illnesses for which your child is not at risk, and many you don't need to fear him getting. I wish you the best! Stick around.

Here are the school immunization requirements for your state.

I did some more research and found out that three of the five vaccines (Hibs, Rotavirus, Prevnar) that my son received didn't even exist before 1990. Generation Xers like my husband and I never had it, and we obviously lived through those "dark ages" just fine.

I know this is still early, but what do I do about those state mandates? By the time he's school age, I am sure the new list of "recommended" vaccine will be even longer. I am agnostic, btw.

Doesn't matter what religion you are, as long as you sincerely believe your child should not be vaccinated anymore.

So you are in VA.

You don't have to be a part of any organized religion, or believe in G-d, etc. to claim a religious exemption. Your religion can be nature, as nature intended our bodies to be. Just "Deeply and sincerely held religious beliefs" and you've GOT that...

http://www.909shot.com/state-site/Virginia.htm has VA exemption info but, really, who knows where you'll live by then! Here's a map of friendlier "philosophical" exemption states.

We solved the problem entirely by moving to China! No, really, no CPS, no doctor's office waivers, even my daughter's school doesn't care a whit. Since people are from differing countries, and all the countries' schedules differ, schools really tend not to make anything mandatory, though they do ask for a copy of whatever shots they have had, in case of a school outbreak of something (which we all know is a total load of B.S. anyway, vaxed kids get some "vax preventable" diseases at very nearly the same rate as unvaxed kids).
