Baby Name Vote

Thread Starter
I don't know how to do an official vote. My husband picked the name "Race" for a boy during our last pregnancy. He wants us to likely use that name this time around. What do you all think about that name. The people that I've polled locally either love it or hate it. I'm pretending not to like it but it's actually growing on me. I do think that it's one of those names that could potentially cause problems in early childhood.

Would really like to know your opinion though. I've googled the name quite a bit & not suprisingly it's hardly come up at all.

Oh, I'm due on 10/6 so I need to be cramming through my baby book names if I can't come to conclusion on this in the very near future.

I'm not a fan of it but my opinion on names is very traditional. We've decided on Alexander Ray/Alexandra Rae for ours. So, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I like it!

But this is coming from someone who is naming this one if it's a boy after a planet, so take that as you will.

I have a dear friend who's ds is named Race. I personally love it because its so unusual and it happens to fit my friend's ds perfectly.

I like it, but it sounds like a very active little boy.

We were thinking of Bristol for this baby if she is in fact a "he" which is also the name of a super speedway.

Race or Racer makes a great middle name!

In general I'm a big fan of unusual names but I don't like Race too much. Not because I think he'd get picked on really. But maybe because I don't immediately think "fast cars" - I think more "what race or nationality are you," and therefore it strikes me as a strange thing to name a child. But that's just my 2 cents, so take or leave it!

I wouldn't use it myself but I don't think it's a bad name.

I don't like it myself but he's your child....don't mind what any of us think.

I don't like it, sorry. I'm not a big fan of the names that aren't really names, KWIM?

Same here... I have a Christopher & Katherine, so yeah, lol.

But just bc it's not my taste doesn't mean anything. If you and your hubs love the name, then by all means ignore what I say

I think.... I think.... I think I like it. Yup, I like it I like the sound, It rolls off the tounge easy, its easy to spell, and you gotta imagion a kid named Race would have a personality. Its different without being jibberish. Can I ask what your thinking for middle names?

And don't feel too bad I dont have a boy name picked out yet either. I'm kinda still mulling around gunnar/gunner, but I got a bad reaction from MDC and wasn't brave enough to ask around IRL. I'd go with your gut.

It's not my style personally.

I don't care for it either, I'm another who's not a big fan of names that aren't really names used for names, though.

But, it is your child and you should name him what you want!

Not in your ddc, but I really don't like it. Sounds like a) a cartoon character, b) a romance novel or soap opera hunky dumb dude, c) a concept that has caused an awful lot of cruelty and discrimination over the years, d) a last name.

Thanks all, keep the feedback coming. I'm really appreciating all of it negative & positive and the reasons for both.

I'm not crazy about it at all.

Im sorry, when I first hear it I don't fall in love with it. Someone mentioned maybe using it as a middle name???

I may not be the best for advice. I've decided on the name Julien Alexandre Dumornay for our LO.
