Port Alberni (or area) please!

It looks like my husband has a job interview in Port Alberni on Oct. 15th. From what I can see online, the community would be a good match for us. But, there's *always* more to the story, and I'd love to hear from those who know more about it. Either on here, or, if at all possible, meeting while we're in town.

Some things that appeal to me (I'm currently living in rural Northern Alberta)
- community things like skating and sparks right in town
- Homeschool group iin Nanaimo?
- farmer's market

We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and are expecting #3 in March. I miss having local produce like in southern Ontario and I miss having amenities available (less than an hour), like opportunities for a homeschooled child to socialize. Otherwise I kind of like the rural place I am right now!

Thanks,

Erica

How did the interview go? I don't know what brought me to mdc today but I was perusing the Canada section and saw your post.

I'm in Nanaimo and like the area fine enough although we aren't here long term. Port Alberni is a bit depressed economy wise but I quite like it. It's easy to get to the east or west coast of vancouver island from there.

There is a very large home learning group here in the nanaimo/dist69 area.

We are home learning here. My dd is 5.5 and my ds will me 2 in March. (good time to have a baby. )

I'm not sure about Farmers Markets out in the PA area but here there are many. I know of some good markets in Coombs and Parksville too.
