How to keep them coming?

I've been getting contractons 3-5 minutes apart for a good three - three and a half hours now. But the one time I sat down with a book to relax they seemed to taper off. I worked in the yard a little bit, went for a walk, and now I'm sitting on my birthing ball doing circles all in an effort to keep them coming. Surely there has to be a way to MAKE it turn into real labor even if it is just prodromal. Ok, so I'm not entirely serious. This is the first time the contractions have come closer than 8 minutes apart though... so it's hard not to have wishful thinking.

I've been having this since Sunday. Though on Sunday they were 1.5mins apart for 4hrs! Then just stopped. They've been 15-20 mins apart since them, with some periods of none. Never experienced this with my first, so it's a bit annoying. Unfortunately.. there's no way to keep 'em going if you're body isn't ready. Soon enough.. soon enough!

If your waters are intact and you feel up to it, you could try having sex... or at least some nipple stim and maybe some *fun* on your own. Other than that trying to stay active and upright. Don't wear yourself out though! If it was time they wouldn't taper off when you relaxed. At least they're getting work done even if it isn't the real deal!

One can dream... ha, I can just picture trying to stay active all night just to keep 'em coming.

No thanks, guess I'd rather take the sleep!

We are definitely DTD once a day... sadly, it's no longer enjoyable on my end! I'm finally too big out front and too numb down there to get anything out of it. Sigh.

If they taper off I wouldn't worry about trying to make them keep coming, you may just wear yourself out and get excited about nothing. That is what I kept doing last week. I have thrown in the towel and just ignoring it all. I figure I will KNOW when they are real and everything else is just better to ignore. But, that is my 2 cents. Walks are a nice way to keep them coming, but again, don't get worn out.
