Foster-adopt newborns/young infants? - Page 2

Luv-my-boys, we are in exactly the same situation as you here in TX. The youngest child we could have placed in our home that was fully TPR would be 12 months, and that would be if the child had been placed in foster care immediately at birth. TX requires 12 months until full TPR, so we'd have to take a risk accepting the placement of a newborn or very young infant, with the knowledge that the birth parents have a year to work things out with their case.

We still haven't decided if we're willing to take that risk or accept the youngest child we can that's fully TPR...still searching my heart to see what I believe I can handle!

that is our fear as well, that we will be placed with a child and fall completely in love and at the 11th hr RU happens. But that is always a possibility in adoption especially from foster care unless the TPR has happened. We have had to search our faith a lot lately and feel (for us) that although it would be hard there is a reason why we would have a child placed with us whether it was to make a permanent family or family in our hearts. We are doing fostering for special needs (medical) children. We have expressed our fears with our CW regarding the amount of "risk" we are willing to take. Honestly I think for us it would depend on the child and the situation (parents/family coming forward/medical needs/age)
