Oh he's perfect!!! And what a great birth story! I really enjoyed reading it. Thank you so much for sharing. My LO is also ROA so it's nice to hear such a positive birth experience even if the back pain was HORRID.

Oh, I hope my story didn't scare you. To encourage you, ROA isn't necessarily bad. A few of mine have hung out in that position all the way up to the end, and I never had back labor with any of them. My other labors have been fast and very easy, even the ones where the baby wasn't LOA going into it. It's ROP that isn't ideal, but even still a lot of ROP babies will turn to anterior at some point during labor. My little guy just waited till the last minute to do so. He had kept slipping from ROA to ROP the last few weeks and was in ROP at a few of my last prenatals. My placenta was on the lower left front side, so I think he liked to snuggle up facing that. Also, as bad as the back pain was, it was so totally worth it. I'd go through it again in a heartbeat to have my little fella. Best wishes to you! I have a feeling you're going to do just great!

No, you didn't scare me at all! It was nice to hear a postive experience with an ROA/ROP baby! My little one is resting against my right side looking to my left (that is ROA, right?). I'm of course hoping this LO decides to go LOA at some point thoug! I was an OP baby and my Mom had a really rough time (granted, she wasn't allowed out of the hospital bed, went in too early, they turned me manually with every contraction, and ended up using vacuum).

Oh good. My birth was definitely great even though it was intense. I have sweet, fond memories of it. Resting against the right side and looking towards your left would be ROT(right occiput transverse). If he/she is looking more towards your back then he/she is ROA; looking to your front is ROP. At least that's how I understand it. I'm sure you're already doing all the right things like leaning forward, spending time on a birth ball and no time leaning back with feet up, etc. You know all those good tips from spinningbabies.com. No matter which position your lo ends up being in, it makes all the difference in the world if you can stay upright and mobile during labor. Oh, and my biggest tip of all - STAY WELL RESTED!! I went into labor feeling so sleepy this time, and I can say for sure that it is much harder to deal with discomfort when tired. In those last days give in to napping whenever the urge hits if you can. I think sometimes that can even be a sign that labor is coming soon. The night I went into labor was the first night in weeks that I actually felt sleepy at bedtime, and like a dummy I stayed up anyway to get some quiet "me time". Right about the time I felt I couldn't keep my eyes open and decided to go to bed was when I realized I might be in labor and it was too late.
