National Breastfeeding Awareness -- when is it?

I know I didn't title my post very well...... but I am trying to figure out if there is a National Breastfeeding week... or month... or day. Something.

Basically, I was seleted to be part of a Diversity commitee at my workplace. For example, right now we are going over different cultures in our local area, providing people with information and trying to bring more awareness to the various cultures in our community. Another example, and I think its a big one -- our workplace takes part in a "Pride Parade" in Portland, OR.... we march in the parade, etc. It's cool, and exciting that my workplace is stepping outside the box to embrace diversity in our community.

SO....... I feel that breastfeeding is unfortunately, a controversial subject due to lack of information and awareness. I really want to present this to my commitee as something we should bring up, and I need to know if there is a national awareness focus that I can tie it in too, so we can work with the timing on it. Basically, I want to have an entire idea prepared so I can really sell it on the commitee to get everyone on board. I think if we do it right, it can really fit in with our objectives and I'd be really excited to do this.

In the US, it was in August. Google "World Breastfeeding Week" (WBW)

It is organized by WABA - World Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy.

In Canada, it is the first week in Oct.

In Britian, it is in the spring - April maybe?

There is also a Quintessence (I'm sure that I'm misspelling it) Breastfeeding simultaneous nurse that is held in October.
