Daily Chat- Friday, October 3rd

I am not happy to be awake right now.

I had contractions every 3-5 minutes for about 3 hours last night. I started feeling like I needed to throw up but couldn't so I went to bed and again, they stopped.

That's my gripe... I am feeling so thankful however, that DH started his leave early and won't be going back to work until October 20th. :

Ahhhh I'm right there with you. Should be getting dressed to get DS to school, isntead I'm taking a few here lol. 8 solid hours of contractions yesterday. A good half of that time they were 3-5 minutes apart, then I took a bath and they settled in at 7-9 minutes apart until I went to bed. It's mentally exhausting - they are just intense enough that DS's normally adorable constant chatter drives me batty, kwim? Hard enough to make dinner, clean up, do chores, when I just want to go to sleep and make them stop since they aren't the real thing. Ah well.

Hope someone has a more exciting day than mine planned, grocery shopping and have to take ds to get a physical this afternoon. He hasn't been to the doctor in 2 years, should be interesting. Especially the part where they tell me he's overdue for his vaccinations. (I vaxed until I read up on it here, he was about 18 months old when I stopped altogether.)

Its okay Changed! That would make anyone grumpy. I woke up this morning and was THRILLED to get out of bed. This is partially because my nights sleep SUCKED and also because I was in the middle of one of those weird dreams. In this one I was cleaning out my nose for some reason-and pulling out nail clippers, paper, apple pie, gum, and all sorts of things. Freaky I know.

But anyways...today is me back on my mission. GET BABY OUT.
I'm going to add some things to my regime. I'm already walking 2 miles a day now, taking evening primrose, using my gentle birth formula, having nightly orgasms, squatting, I ordered that my DP has sex with me tonight no matter how ackward it might feel to him, nipple stimulation, and I'll have to think of some more ideas.

In the meantime before the baby comes, I'll be cleaning all of the floors in my house today, preparing for my classes which will begin on Monday :, Putting up laundry, and wondering if me going for one of my jogs I did up until I was 6 months pregnant will help this little one out. Hmmm...a little scary to think about...yet comical in a weird way.

Anyway! What are you ladies up to today? This MIGHT be one of out last Fridays without a little babe in our arms. Can't go to the movies with a baby, right? So how are you going to enjoy this wondrous beginning of a weekend when "someone" is bound to give birth (please please let it be me : )
Add me to the list of the contracting and still pregnant. I had a night almost exactly like you described, Changed. I had an intense wave of nausea and then some awful heartburn...not to mention having to pee a zillion times...on top of pretty serious ctx coming about every 5-8 minutes. They started yesterday afternoon and never went away when I laid down and continued all through the night, waking me up several times.

I feel like something is brewing, although I don't know how I will be able to cope with 9+ more days of this prodromal stuff. I kind of think I'll go sooner than later. Even dh said he thinks this babe is coming earlier than our others.

I've got a busy weekend planned but that may just go out the window if things start really picking up. Poor ds (who turns 5 tomorrow)....when I asked him what he wants for his b-day he just says that he doesn't want to share the 4th with his new baby sister.

Well, since I'm up I better get a jump start on the day. I've got a LLL mtg. to lead in a few hours and my mom will be here soon. Then dh and I are going out thrifting, to Whole Foods, and then to a quiet lunch. Its gonna be a full day...let's just hope prodromal labor stays at bay today.

i feel exactly the same way. im trying to be happy and content but as of yesterday, i really cant walk w/o pain. there is nothing the chiro can do about this one.

i think im going to call an accupuncturist today.

if i could simply go on w/ my life and not feel incompacitated (spelling sucks right now..dont care!!!lol!) then it wouldnt be so bad.

i think im going to start a HUGE knitting project too. loll

I did some natural encouragement techniques last night Amamaagain. Nipple stim, walking, sex...good luck with that.

My blood pressure has been on the high side for a few days. It's weird because sometimes I take it and it's highish and sometimes completely normal. I called the Dr. and they're not concerned but I really want this kid to come before anyone has reason to be.

Passionatewriter- Is acupuncture any more likely to work than seeing the chiro? Mine keeps telling me he's going to get my labor started but hasn't yet.
changed, im seeing my chiro 2-3 times a day. i LOVE her so dont take me wrong on this but im going to SLAP her next time she tells me she's going to help get the baby out TODAY! (j/k).

my baby is in the PERFECT position for birth. I have been having contractions daily for more than a week and now my back hurts and i cant figure out why......w/ a perfectly positioned baby, i shouldnt have back pain. And walking is nearly impossible at this point. It is really really painful.

Most of this pain is after an hour massage and a chiro appt. yesterday so i have no idea what is going on.

im 41 weeks on Monday. Im not at the "desperate stage" or anything but im willing to see if the acupuncturist will help. ive never seen one so this is a bit of a leap of faith for me. but..im always up for something new! lol!

oh, and dont worry about your bp...it usually goes up toward the end. im always asking my MW about bp b/c i hear it all the time but its absolutely normal.

How high are we talking? I could soooo use the help not worrying. Thank you.
Well my bp was up to 142/90 something last visit. They retook it with me on my left side and it went down a little...but not much. It was the first time I've had high bp this pregnancy. My doctors said "you look fine, I'm not worried".

Oh! I started seeing my chiropractor again last week. It's helping some. I'm trying to just do it 2 times a week for now.

What I really thought would help get labor started was accupuncture or acupressure. My doula does acupuncture but doesn't want to do it until I am overdue. I called a place about acupressure, and the guy told me that "you're 9 months pregnant. There is not much that we can do to help you. We can help you with pain after you have the baby".

Am I the only one that heard it could help start labor???

Just a quick good morning to everyone. Getting ready to drop the minivan off for an oil change and then DH is taking me to my chiro appointment. Sleep was sucky last night, but not so much because of the arm - the LO had hiccups most of the night! First time I felt them with her, but DS had them all the time. Anyway, so hiccups and having to pee every hour sucked all the joy out of sleep. Some BH, but still very irregular. Baby is a squirmer, so that doesn't help the comfort level much either. VERY much looking forward to getting adjusted today.
I was thrilled to get up this morning, too. I actually slept pretty well last night (a rare treat). Only got up to pee once and was able to go right back to sleep. I usually lose about 2 hrs every time I wake up. But today, my pelvis is killing me! As much as I'd love to have this baby now, I think it will be a lot easier if I can make it to the chiro on Monday.

I just ordered capsule making supplies for my placenta. I'm kind of excited about it, but dh gets gaggy at the thought. He agrees it's a good idea, but he prefers "don't ask, don't tell" on the whole topic.

It's really exciting to see so many births being announced. It really is time, isn't it? I guess it's still kind of sneaking up on me.

Good luck to all!

Changed, yes accupuncture can be more effective at starting labor than an adjustment because they work on specific pressure points. My chiro wants to do this if I go over (haven't told her I don't do needles of any kind ).

I hope all of you having regular ctx can get something going soon!
My 38wk appt is today at 1:30. I think for date night tonight we're going to do my belly cast instead of going to dinner (I'm sure we'll do dinner on Tues for our anniversary anyway). For those of you that did casts, what did you slather on yourself to keep the plaster from sticking? Vaseline? Baby oil? Something else?

I'm hoping I can talk DH out of some sexy time since it's been FOREVER and I need some attention (not since 25wks!)! I miss being close.
Ah...another day! Well I slept good last night, even though I was up to pee about 3 or 4 times, I was able to get back to sleep. I'm still contracting but nothing even close together. They are just off and on throughout the day. Backache is still gone...thank goodness. Emotionally, I'm doing good today! I may even crack a smile at some point today. I have nothing on my agenda for today. My house is clean, laundry done, paid the rent, I may just go for a walk and enjoy the weather since it's suppose to get chilly here next week (60's from 80's this week). DP will be coming up this weekend and I already told him that he has "work to do"...lol! Tomorrow is my home visit as well, yeah a little late at 38 weeks but at least it will be done. Nothing else planned, maybe lots of walking, playing board games (i'm sick of TV) and just hanging with the kids. Anyway, that's what's happening over here.

Kept having contractions last night for about 2 hours so that was annoying. Then I woke up about 3 times so a restless sleep. And then hubby woke me to to something that I was NOT expecting this morning (made a sperate post about that) so now I'm a little aggravated. But other than that, All's good here!

Such an exciting day planned! I'm gonna CLEAN!! WOO! *looks around at clutter with horrified look on face* I'll try to make a game out of it and get my little one involved so that it's fun. Wish me luck! lol

Have a wonderful day ladies!!
blah.... still preggers with no real activity to report! I think I'll spend my day cleaning as much as possible with a 2 year old I really want to take a nap....hopefully I'll have a chance when Carolina takes a nap

Tara, the belly cast is super fun...you guys will have a blast. We used olive oil with the belly cast this time and the last time we used vaseline i think. Both work fine Just make sure you get every inch that will be plastered...otherwise......YEEEOOOOOUCH!!! I can't wait to see pictures

So, who is having a baby today?!?!?!
^Thanks! I'll plan for olive oil since that sounds easier and we have lots handy. The only vaseline we have is a tiny jar that DH uses for chapped lips. Haha!

I could not sleep last night. I kept going over the VP debates in my head... ugh! I turned on my hypnotherapy CD's 4 times to fall asleep and then I'd rest an hour and then wake up.
When I finally did get to sleep I heard... "mommy, I neeeeeeed you!" from my 5 year old! I looked at the clock and it was 6:30am. so got up and started my day.

I have not had any lengthy contractions like some of you mention. My MW has been saying for two weeks that I could go any day and truthfully I think It'll be next week!

For those wanting to get labor started have you loked into homeopathy? That might be an option. Along with acupuncture/ acupressure you might find the results you want.

I like the idea of doing a belly cast this week too. I did one with ds but have not with this one. Maybe I'll go buy supplies...

i dont know exactly HOW MUCH higher than your regular bp but a slight elevation shouldnt be an issue and is very common. If all else is well try not to worry too much

It's weird. It's up and down a lot but hasn't been consistently high 2 readings in a row. I have no other symptoms so I'm going to assume it's a matter of the tax being this pregnant puts on my body. I called the Dr.'s office back this morning like I was asked to and they said that I should be checked just in case and to go to L&D. I said that would be a stressful waste of my time and the nurse says well, at 39 and a half weeks they'll probably induce you if you want. Sure, cause that's what everyone wants. Moron.

I'm going to try to stop worrying and enjoy my day. Hope you all do the same!

Good morning! Well, today is my EDD. But I don't feel any baby coming yet. The last two days I've had strong cramping and some moderate contractions on and off, but they keep fizzling out. I've also had the yucky nausea. Dh took the day off yesterday because I was so exhausted. But last night I slept well and I feel much better now.

I'm just hoping this baby won't make me wait longer than another week . . . I've tried some of the pressure points and everything to keep the contractions going, but no dice. I guess baby just isn't quite ready.
