OMG! I'm going to have a heart attack!! :D:D:D

Oh I am so excited! This morning I pulled out some raw fleece I dyed up a bit ago to start spinning for this months challenge on Ravelry (so excited about that! I think I have a good one already ). I spun a bit and decided I wanted to comb it instead of spinning straight from the lock. I called my mom mom up to see if I could borrow her combs. I was out at her house the other day and saw them and wanted to use them and now had/have a reason. She said sure. And then asked if I wanted some other things. My brother is currently on his way over to my house with:

ALL her prepared fiber! (Wool and llama)
2 (TWO!!!) Ashford large whorl spindles!!! and her
Ashford Traditonal Wheel!!!!

I am so unbelievably excited right now. I saw her spindles the other day and was in instant lust. I have been seeing everyone’s gorgeous spindles on here and have had some serious jealousy issues and now I will have two more!!! And a wheel! I get to try a wheel.

Oh I wish my brother would get here faster. He just called and is on his way home from a sick friends house. He has to go pick everything up and then he'll head this way.

This month's challenge? What, spinners study?

Breathe. Keep breathing. Is she going to want the wheel back?

Go join the Spindlers group. They have a monthly challenge every month..basically a spin along to get people to make yarn. You have to start and finish a skein in that month pertaining to the challange. For instance, this month is Alice in Wonderland so I'm doing 4 oz. of some blue/green/yellow I dyed and I'll name it Bill the Lizard.

She doesn't think she will. She hasn't used it for awhile and from the sounds of it n our call today it was her coping mechanism when my stepdad was dying so I'm not sure she wants that association.

Spindles and combs

You know you want it.

Anyone have good links on how to thread it and get started? I've been goggling forever now and not getting anything good...just "buy an Ashford here!" type stuff.

I am not a spinner but I can tell you are really excited, so I will celebrate with you! :

Thanks for the birthday wishes I think we are about ready to come visit you... we had visitors every other week from the end of August until this past Monday, but our October is looking clear! :

: The stupid thing won't work! I can't get any decent amount of twist to my yarn nor can I get it to wind onto my bobbin. : Now I have to wait for my mom to come over tomorrow to help figure it out. I think it needs some maintenence/repairs on it. I guess I'll call the guild here to see if anyone can take a look at it. I swear there is something missing but my mom says there isn't. Google isn't helping either.

That's a tension problem- if it's Scotch tension, there's a band that stretches over the top of the bobbin. Fiddle with that until it's taking up the way you want it to (at a guess, you need to release some tension, not tighten it). Also, make sure that the flyer and bobbin are on straight.
If it's double drive, I have no idea, but someone will :

It's Scotch and I figured it out. I'm missing that band. I'm picking up a maintence kit tomorrow and will be able to fix it.

We got the camera back, so if you want me to do you a photo tute on how to thread her up I can. The beauty of those wheels, though, is that they're damn near idiotproof. Trust me, I am one, so I know

Once I realized I had missing parts I sort of figured it out. A tute would still be nice though!
