I am so proud of myself LOL. I am planning to make a few more for Christmas gifts and such and I am so impressed with how nicely the first one turned out.

Very cute!! Mind sharing the details? How much tulle did you buy? How much did it cost? How long did it take? How do you measure the elastic band?

Mostly I followed the instructions using this tutorial. I did use 3 colours of tulle so I have some left over. I also found a you tube video which explains a really easy way to cut the tulle . Personally I think that the elastic waistband is a better choice for dress up wear (which is heavily used around our house). The first tutorial said to measure around your child's waist and subtract 3 inches and that worked well for us.

I am going to be cutting tulle yardage today to make another one for my niece this time and I will use the roll and cut directions in the video to do it. I also did the double knots as in the first tutorial and not the slip knots in the second. I just know that the slip knots would get pulled out around here.

I think it took about 40 minutes or so. Once I clued in to lay all three rolls one on top of the other and cut three colours at once it went much faster LOL.

I embellished with a bit of cheap ribbon (I heat sealed the ends) interspersed throughout the tulle at the very end. Niamh thought she looked very pretty and that is what counts in the end

So beautiful!

I tried making a tutu like that a little bit ago. Um, yeah, didn't turn out looking very nice. I apparently don't even have the skills to tie knots of tulle on elastic.

I figured out once I started that it was easiest to tie the tulle flat onto the elastic and then pull it into place hanging from the bottom rather than trying to tie it into that position. Another thing I figured out was not tieing it super tight so that I *could* move it into position fairly easily I am not generally "crafty" (well okay I can sew and knit and crochet but I don't generally do crafts that don't involve those specific skills LOL).

I made a tutu for my daughter and it was so much fun I'm making them for all the little girls on my Christmas list. I tied bells and ribbons in it, and there are few dragonflies as well. It's so pretty. I understand why so many people are selling them at craft festivals - they're just fun to make and so darn dreamy.

I just made a tutu for my niece last week for her birthday. They are pretty easy to make, and since they are also pretty quick, there's that instant gratification thing. I used the tulle on the roll too, which made things easier. (Bridal aisle at JoAnns.)

I blogged about it here.
