Just got back from Target (in Wasilla) it was already pretty busy at 9 am and packed by the time we left at 10:30. Finally found some shoes for my 6.5 yo, been looking everywhere. They have the whole line of method cleaners and soap!: Somehow I managed restraint and only spent a little over $100 today.

i heard the crowds were horrendous! Im waiting for a few weeks before I go.
I have been to a target not to long ago, so I'm good for a bit.

Been busy, DP's back is out, he's been drugged up and bedbound for almost 5 days. Poor guy.

So things are super busy.

It's still only hitting about 30F during the sunniest part of the day at our house. I'm sending the kids out before lunch every day, but they don't last long.

love, p

You're a friend of Lance's right? So you can get insider information on what it's like to be on Conan, right??
I would love love love to hear details about it.. even the most mundane of tidbits... I'm a crazy huge Conan fan!

I watched last night.. Had to set my watch alarm to wake me up cause I couldn't stay up that late..even though I tried really really hard. Lance did a great job. I would have been sooo nervous. The stuff about hallucinating on the trail was funny and I didn't know about the sly move he pulled to win this year.. pretending to be asleep and then taking off when Jeff fell asleep. How very cunning of him! It was so neat to see a genuine small town Alaskan (that isn't a politician ) on Conan.

Can anybody believe this weather? It's 45 in Fairbanks! Yay for today--but not for tomorrow. Not looking forward to all that ice that will be left in the wake of such a massive melt!

Oh my goodness when he pulled that stunt, every one but Jeff King fans were jumping up and down. I'll try to find a post I made about it somewhere else that tells more of the details. It was awesome.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. Right as I was leaving the hospital with Emma... that snow began.

I have such an amazing, clear memory of my entire baby moon.

It was warm here too! There was a nasty windstorm here last night that caused power outages and loss of my internet for most of the afternoon! Trees were down and the porta potty at Dh's work blew over! eewww!

But when the sun came out later, it was so beautiful!

The slope is going to be short on produce this week. A neighbor works for Food Services of America, a food supply trucking company that delivers to the North Slope. One of their trucks turned over on the haul road a while ago so the company it was going to up on the slope couldn't accept the fruit. I just got a big banana box full of fruits and a few veggies. Yummmie!!!! Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes and jalepeno peppers! We don't buy much fresh fruit anymore as it is just too expensive here so we are all excited. I see an apple pie or two in our near future. How funny that it was so warm today of all days that none of it got frozen!

I talked to him a few minutes yesterday at the Sled Dog Symposium. He said Conan was really nice and talked to him after the show. He told him he was welcome back any time so maybe we will see him again on the show. He said NYC was pretty overwhelming and pretty much just crazy.

Wow! We are getting BUCKETS of snow here right now. I don't think this one will melt until Spring.

What's everyone doing for Hallowe'en?

We are testing out our heated driveway as we speak.

Checked out Target today.. basically it reminded me of Walmart.. didn't see any great deals on anything either.

Cool! I've always heard he was a really nice, genuine kind of guy. I've never been to NYC but I can imagine it would seem like a really alien kinda place compared to here.

My kiddos are going to be dressing up and trick or treating.. the two older ones anyway. Me or hubby will probably stay home with the baby. Unless it's not terribly cold out.. Then we might all venture out together.
My ds will be Jango Fett, dd1 will be cookie monster and the baby is going to be Chewbacca.. or as we like to say Memebacca.
I'll be my usual.. a witch.. I've been many variations of it but the same thing every year since I was about 5. It's just one of my things.

Oh and I changed my user name because I just wanted to feel more anonymous on here. I realized a quick google search could easily find me and too many people in real life knew my prior username. I'd like to be able to speak more candidly on some things without fear of certain people finding it..
I picked salmontree because I've always been facinated by the cycle of salmon.. How they travel out to sea to fatten up and then swim back inland to die where their bodies deposit all those ocean nutrients in the soil to nourish the forest. You might say that the trees are made of salmon. So cool.
