Black spot on baby's gum

Hello, my 6 month old has a black spot on her upper gum near the back. There shouldn't be any teeth coming in back there yet. Her two lower ones are in. I would describe it as looking like a little mold spot.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

My ped said small white spots on the gums are normal. They are little calcium deposits and they get reabsorbed. I don't know about black spots, though. Is your baby eating anything yet, and maybe got some food in there that may have caused a blackhead-effect where there is some bacteria? Is it inflamed? You might want to call your pediatrician and if they're not sure, ask for a dental referral and call to see if they know anything.
