I have heard similar things to the PP.
Is your induction medically necessary? I think with all these thing you weigh up the risks/benefits. I would never agree to an induction just b/c I was sick of being pregnant for example. But I'd do it if I felt like the baby was in danger, or whatever.

I had Cervidil (inserted as a pessary) but would not have allowed Cytotec. I was 42 wks (no error with dates) and went into labor 90 mins after insertion. I delivered DS without pain meds or other interventions 4 hrs later.
I was probably ready anyway but massage, accupuncture, walking, sex etc had all failed to get things moving...

No personal experience with it but I do know that it's preferred over Cytotec because it's actually been approved for use in pregnancy! The makers of Cytotec have made statements discouraging CP's from using it for induction because that's not what it's made for and hasn't been approved for that use. Also, Cervidil can be removed if things start moving or get too intense and Cytotec cannot. You're just stuck with Cytotec. I'd absolutely request the Cervidil be removed if things get going and let your body take over so it doesn't get too intense too quickly since that can really interfere with goals of NCB (if that's your goal). GL and HTH!
