So 2 years ago I went to my beloved dentist and asked if he did cosmetic dentistry. He said of course. I told him I wanted veneers for that great smile that I've never had, had some $$$ saved up etc. He told me I wasnt' a candidate for veneers but he could do crowns and it would be the same result. My insurance would even cover some of the work. Boy was I relieved!
So I showed up for the appts, endured the pain and paid my bills. As time progressed I tried to be patient but my smile was NOT improving. No straight, white pretty teeth for me. When I told him how upset I was he was shocked. 2 crowns in particular were being recemented every other week --- which really ate through my dental insurance.
I went for a 2nd opinion and the dentist told me it would all have to be redone and veneers attached to the crowns. Now why would my own dentist tell me veneers aren't an options for me? Can they really attach veneers to crowns? Price tag -- $3000.
So the other day I lost one of my crowns that is always loose and coming off. I called my dentist, already upset and feeling burned and told him I would be getting a new dentist and to cancel my appt -- I had lost my crown. He said he would replace it for free -- $700. So I see him Tuesday but meanwhile here's the issue.
This guy made promises to me, knows that I'm unhappy with the "cosmetic aspect of dentist work" and hasn't offered to do anything. I really trusted this guy. I'd trust him to do anything else.
Do I insist he re-do everything ?? Tell him I got a 2nd opinion and I want this done to my satisfaction? Unfortunately I don't have the money to just go somewhere else and pay an addl $3000 again. I'm just so frustrated -- and feel stupid almost for being vain. Dh says to take him to small claims court.
