Why no driving for 2 weeks?? - Page 2

Oh yeah, everyone should know that vacuum cleaners are extremely dangerous for postpartum women. I drove when my dd was 2 days old, but I was careful not to vacuum for a full 12 weeks.

I know this is controversial, but I personally believe that doing dishes during the first 3-4 months carries serious risks as well.

I was told this after my c/s, I thought it was related to twisting whilst driving. You know all the turning you do to see all the mirrors might screw up the healing of the abdominal incision. I don't think its in case you were in an accident because they would tell you not to get into a car AT ALL if that were the case and not just to not drive. I could totally buy the don't drive whilst on pain meds and after blood lose. But I don't really know for sure why.

I wouldn't drive while taking pain pills, but otherwise I don't have much choice. Hubby doesn't have time off, he should be able to get the day off for L&D but then has to go right back to work.

Besides, what about single moms?

What about moms with deployed partners?

I specifically asked about driving, and was told I could whenever I wanted. The only things I've been specifically told not to do are have sex and take baths (for stitches)

One more reason I love my NP - she knows I'm a SAHM and we didn't have a lot of family coming in to help - so this was her way of making sure I take it easy.

Honey, sorry the house is a mess, but doctor's orders!
