Help me with ideas for a graduation gift

For a friend of mine. We are not as close as we once were but she's a great person and I'd really like to send her something special for her graduation from chiropractic school. She's really worked hard. I wanted to make a Clapotis but the only yarn I could afford right now that would complete the project would be acrylic. Granted, I could use Simply Soft but I would have preferred something more elegant. So, any ideas for a nice, useful, elegant/luxurious graduation gift that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance!!

How about this pretty bag? You could probably get away with one skein, so you could use a nice wool and it would still be inexpensive. Or a one skein scarf?

I just finished a variegated wool wraparound journal cover from One Skein Wonders - it's a gift for the school nurse, who will be leaving next month.

I don't have a journal to cover with it yet, or I'd post a pic. But it's really quite nice. And a quick project.
