Teeth brushing resistance & massage

For all you mamas experiencing the frustrating resistance of brushing your dc's teeth.....it just occurred to me the other night what often works with dd....
Dh massages her feet while I brush her teeth. She gets completely relaxed and destracted by the massage and I can go at it! Granted, we have been massaging her since she was an infant, so she doesn't experience the tickling sensation like those who aren't used to being massaged. But I recommend trying it when all else seems to be failing....This is also how dh gets her to sleep when I am not around too. HTH!

What a great idea!

To expand on this, I have several patients who bring along their dh, friend, or SO to sit in a chair at the foot of the dental chair and massage their feet while they get their dental work done. Great relaxation and distraction!

Dental doulas, that's what we need!
