Zinc Oxide

I recently read that this isn't good. And not recommended. Isn't this the best for sunscreen, diaper rash?

What's the story with zinc oxide?

Thanks,
Ana

I think its because "they" have formulated a nanoparticulate form of zinc oxide which doesn't leave that white residue but may penetrate the skin. The basic variety that you can buy in the pharmacy is likely to be the old fashioned type, which just sits on the skin acts as a barrier. If its in a product that you use, then you need to ask the manufacturer, though I would suspect that any company with a conscience (weleda, neals yard remedies etc) would be well aware of the controversy and avoiding their use.

If you're buying diaper cream, it most likely won't use nano-particles. If it's sunscreen, it's been impossible for me to find one without them. Dd can only use the titanium oxide/zinc oxide sunscreens.

I bought some products from Kabana Skin Care and their Zinc Oxide is I think fine. They write the source of ALL their ingredients.

LynnS6 - They also have sunscreen.

Regarding Titanium Oxide - I think it's worse than all the other oxides.

I guess I'm fine then.
Thanks.
