She was born at home yesterday, Oct. 4 at 9:42 am. I had a successful VBAC, and she weighs 10lb, 6oz and is 21.5" long. Pictures to come later. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but worth it as she is just perfect!

My water broke Friday at 5:30 am. So a few hours later, I called my midwife and doula to let them know it would probably be that day sometime. Around 2, I still wasn't really having contractions, just lots of pressure in my lower back. So the MW suggested I use my breast pump to get the contractions going, which they did around 3:30. They started getting more intense around 10 or so. Around midnight, I had DH call the doula. Then when she got to our house (I was in the pool by that point having very uncomfortable contractions), they decided to call the MW, who got here around 2:30, with her assistant. The 3 of them, plus DH helped me to get through the contractions as best as I could. Around 5 am, I started feeling like I had to push, so I did. We thought she'd be born within half an hour, but then realized that her head was stuck behind a cervical lip. So I had to wait a couple of hours for the contractions to make me dialate more. Those were 2 VERY intense hours because I wanted to push but couldn't. I started pushing around 7 again after getting into the shower. Once her head started coming down, we realized she was much bigger than we had expected! It took about an hour to push her head out with some really strong, intense pushes. Once her head was finally out, her body came out pretty easily.
The whole experience was SUPER intense, and very painful, but 100% worth it. The baby is perfect, and I feel pretty good. I'm proud of myself and can't believe it's all over!
