Favorite Waldorf Doll patterns?

Thread Starter
I am trying to work up the courage to make my first Waldorf doll. Anyone use a particular pattern that they loved and feel it is very user-friendly, especially for a beginner? Do I also need to have a sewing machine to make a doll or can I do it all by hand?

Thanks!

For a first try, I love the classic Waldorf pattern from Magic Cabin with the body and legs cut in one piece and the arms cut in one piece. I think the instructions are fairly clear and the wig making is very easy, especially if you do not crochet. The doll, when completed is practically indestructible because of the 1 piece design, the limbs do not pull off, like some other doll designs do.

Weir Dolls and crafts also carries this type of doll pattern.

I have hear that Dancing Rain Doll patterns are very easy to follow and get good results-

Good luck with whatever you choose! Be careful, though- it's addictive!

I used Magic Cabin for my first Waldorf doll (okay my only Waldorf doll ) and I found it incredibly easy and simple. The instruction packet has wonderful illustrations. I used a sewing machine for the body but you could hand sew it also, though it'd take more time.

I loved making mine and look forward to making another. The best part is, now that I have the pattern and instructions I won't have to buy another kit (I already have plenty of supplies), and I can resize the patterns on a copier to make bigger or smaller dolls.

the pattern at sarah's dolls are great imo for a beginer. she gives very detailed step by step instructions and exact weights for the wool batting. plus they are very cute!
