My advice is to plan what you can and let go of the rest. Make sure you and your m/w agree on the reasons you WOULD transfer and the reasons you WOULDN'T DREAM OF transferring. Many women who transfer do so because they are discouraged or in pain or very tired. If you don't want that, make sure your m/w is helping you cope and not offering transfer - kind of like you might with pain meds at the hospital. So, yes, you are in control of many aspects of the birth.
However....
there is so much that you're not in control of and guess what? That's just as it should be! Birth is transforming because it surprises us and pushes us to our limits and tests us and when we pass these tests, we grow as people into mothers. So, maybe you should just be prepared to be surprised!
I hope you have a peaceful and very fulfilling birth experience.

At the first threat my emotional reaction panic and fear at being in a hospital, and a grave feeling of being responsible for not getting what I preferred - and the fact it's a long drawn out "threat" was not helping.
