Amelia is starting a speech program at school, and I have to do an exemption. Amelia is in Minnesota, so I am doing the philosophical exemption. It asks me which ones I am against, do you really think I have to list them out, or could I write "all"?

Do you selectively vaccinate?

Hello fellow Minnesotan! Don't forget to visit here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...splay.php?f=88

I'm pretty sure, someone please clarify, that you just exempt to all and do NOT say anything about any previous shots, or if you are doing a selective/delay schedule. They don't need to know, and because of HIPPA they cannot look up and see if your child has already had some shots, if she has. But be sure in all your dealings that you stick to the basics and don't give any more info than legally necessary.

It has been mentioned here that religious exemptions have more 'staying' power than philosophical so you may want to check more into that (you don't have to belong to a particular religion, just say you are religiously against vaxing).

I would def. consider a relig. exemption. when u find out which ones youre opposed to ingredients in, (maybe MMR&chick.pox-aborted fetus tissue)
others like hep.b is only contracted from immoral behavior, so you can be religiously opposed.

But yeah, if you don't want any vaccines, state "any and all injectable and/or oral vaccines, and tests"

Thanks. I have not vaccinated at all. The form I have does not have religious exemption on it, just medical and conscientious. I think I found it on vaclib.org. Where could I find another one? I will try and look a bit more, too.

I think that FERPA law (which supersedes HIPAA) does allow access to the state vaccine registry, though - and, if like my state, there is no opt-out of the registry the school can access your child's vaccine info.

That isn't how religious exemption works in most states, though. You must be opposed to the PRACTICE of vaccination, not just certain vaccines.

Minnesota offers religious exemption.

eta: In a quick read, it seems that "conscientious exemption" covers philo and religious objection.

Quote:
If the person has not been immunized because of the conscientiously held beliefs of the parent/guardian of the minor child (or of the emancipated person), the parent/guardian (or emancipated person) must submit a notarized statement signed by the minor child's parent/guardian (or by the emancipated person) to the school or childcare facility specifying the immunization(s) is not required.
